Whats the average miles per tank in a mk5 gti?
I tend to average 300 miles per tank usually, it all depends on how you drive it. I have had 350 driving sensibly and 200 giving it the beans
-
The best I have achieved is 150 miles on the 3/4 mark , 250 on the 1/2 and 350 on the 1/4 with the 8lt light coming on at around 415 miles.
Mind you all long journeys on single carriageway A roads with little or no driving in traffic, and I was trying to squeeze 5 return trips to my place of work without filling up. (because I was leaving very early and getting home late)
in general anything over 350 is pretty good.
-
Should I even bother answering???
-
No

That's an impressive amount of miles there. I've got a standard GTI and usually do about 300-320 miles before I fill up (about 45-50 litres). I sometimes calculate my mpg after a fill (I know it's sad) and usually its between 29-30mpg.

zero'd the trip counter when i filled up.. don't think thats too shabby at all considering the stick i've been giving it and the traffic i had to sit in on thurs/fri
have a feeling that 180 mile range is a little optimistic though

Calculating how many miles per gallon you have achieved should be left to the diesel owners
A GTI/ED30/R32 is bought for driving pleasure  and not seeing how many MPG you can eke from a tank of petrol :lipsrsealed:

Sorry, won't do it again!
What's with the blue needles topher? They look pretty cool.
-
they come with the optional extra pack that also includes 4wd, 8 more valves and 2 more cylinders
-
Sorry for my lack of knowledge on the R32 :embarassed: It's always been out of my league so I've never really looked into it.
-
if its not available already.. im sure its only a matter of time before someone produces a kit to get the blue needles in any mk5

Just goes to show how flexible the TFSI engine is, thats why the GTI is the only car you will ever need.
-
27 MPG average , 300 miles per tank
If it was all motorway and no fun then quite a bit more

Everytime i fill up she says I have a range of 315miles... oh how I am fooled into believing her!! Im usually lucky to get 250 :embarassed:
But what a 250 I get!!!

One particular mix of A & B road I know very well, used at the right time of day ie empty, covers everthing from fast straights, up/down hill sections, hairpins and fast/slow curves. Runs 45 miles.
Twice have reset the comp, and averaged into the 14's, over the 45 miles, now thats how a GTI was designed to be driven I guess

I guess I would be looking at about 8 then

I used to get 260 (from full top up to way beyond the orange light coming on) - nothing more fun than playing service station chicken
got caught doing 100mph plus - now manage 310 (all on super unleaded - normally get about 20-30 miles less on std)

and the increased price, insurance and road tax

getting about 350 / 370 before the light comes on. As i havent had the car very long i havent run the tank low so not sure how long the fuel lasts once the light comes on! My total average since picking up the car is 31.5mpg  (used to get 35 in the Focus....1.6 )
-
I'm driving to Devon in a couple of weeks so will be a good test of how far a tank gets, although with my current average of 19mpg that won't be very far.
-
Well even cruising on the motorway I couldn't beat 24-25mpg in my 3.2, but averaged 35mpg doing the same motorway run in the GTI so I'm pretty happy with that.

Whats the average miles per tank in a mk5 gti?
Mixed driving conditions I tend to average 360 miles per tank, if I drive like my nan around 400!!!!
If I drive like I really want to, about 280
-
I would say normally 330-350 but with a long steady run 380 is possible and 40mpg. It is difficult though resisting the urge to boot it off a round about. I've often catch my self on the way home from work trying to get ever higher mpg from the computer display.
Mind you i only managed 170 miles from a tank on my last track day   and 13mpg. which for a track day was not bad especially compared to my friends 3.2 A3 (9mpg)
-
I'm looking to buy, so around 300 miles is ok. How much does it cost to fill a GTI up with the more expensive juice?
-
Around £60 if you can squeeze 55L in
-

....Absolutely spot on!!
All I've noticed is that she normally displays about 320m when filled up and currently averages 27.1 mpg on the display. In Germany she was averaging 22 mpg and I once spent a whole day of 11 mpg on a driver training course!! (and finished off a set of tyres!!)
Safe 'n Fun Journeys is what it's all about
-
Filled it up for the first time today, bit of a shock!
£60, although I think that was pretty much empty as the display said I had 5 miles to go.
£60 = 324 miles 18p/mile... bugger that work only give us 16p/mile.
-
18p/mile... bugger that work only give us 16p/mile.
....I worked it out a few weeks ago (only because someone kept asking me cos she was insisting on buying me fuel!) that when V-Power was £1.05 and my average displaying 27 mpg, petrol was costing me 18p/mile. I calculated it over several 300 mile journeys.
-
£60 for a tank!...thats quite abit...most iv ever put in was £38  And...we dont pay road tax here as petrol prices are supposed to be "higher"
-
If your putting in the expensive stuff its £60 per tank easy. im currently on £300 of juice per month!! Thats more than I pay for my car!!
Thats more than I pay for my insurance :angry:
-
340-360 average for me but recently got just under 400 on a run down to The Smoke to see Spurs v Slavia Prague :smug:
Cass
-
just for the record, I filled her up and whilst there were still 3 litres in the 55 litre tank had managed 252.1 miles...not sure what that works out at, pretty sure its not good low 20's? :embarassed:
TBH i have not been driving too crazily, I am still getting back up to speed as it were, as I get used to driving a powerful car again...reckon I have had a couple of rather spirited drives through this of about 20 miles.
Anyway, you dont buy a GTi to drive like a nun. Lets see how few miles I can get out the next :drool:tank...
(more if i get that bleedin cruise control fitted lol)...ok guys its becoming an obsession now...
-
I've just had 4 years of driving the PD150..GTI now 3 weeks old and I still dare'nt look at the average mpg.
But I agree with the guy earlier..You dont buy a GTI/ED30 etc without knowing the juice wont last long.
-
So....here we go...back on this old chestnut...but feel i have to complete the story really...
Been running on Tesco's Finest RON99.
with a/c off, heated seats off, big feck off speaker in boot off and Cruise used on the daily towny commute...my miles per tank went from about 270 to 330!!
The computer is showing I have 8 miles left in the tank, but reckon i could run on zero for a bit after that too of course....so, I reckon i will get around 350 miles to this tankfull (about 12 gallons if i do the math correctly)...Now thats a much better fuel consumption dont ya think. circa 30MPG!
That said..dont think i will be driving this way through my next tank....
-
nearly killed me but I went up to Glasgow and back nearly on 1 tank , steady 70 mph (! v slow) just to see what I could get. Suffice to say after I filled up I couldnt wait to thrash it
normal tank 1st pic , economy run on second pic.........

Know exactly how you feel. Since having the Milltek fitted my mpg has plumeted
Sounds fantastic though
