Title: cooling fan squeals
Post by: richard s on 07 March 2008, 20:50
i have a 89 8v gti and when my fan cuts in it makes a high pitched squealing/whistling noise
is it possible to strip the fan down and grease it up to stop it
cheers

Bearings have gone.

Best off whipping down a scrappy and getting one. I changed mine at pod before i went for a few sprints down the qtr mile.

If you drive really fast all the time and never stop at traffic lights you won't need the fan. It can then be removed, reducing weight, allowing you to drive even faster.

This is a win-win situation.
