Hi.. Can anyone tell me if the mIV alloys,(montreals I believe) will fit a
mIII Vr6?. A Vr6 owner I know is fancying mine then I can get some of them babies I seen in an earlier thread.. Also If I go up to 18,s will this affect the cars performance?.I ask cos my last motor was a jeep wrangler.going from standard wheels, 30,s to 33,s required major engineering to keep performance levels, new diff,s shaft conversion etc.
Ok I,m talking big yank tank but with the gti I dunno. :-\
Cheers for your patience..

Mk3 VR6 (and GTI?) has the same 100mm PCD 5 stud fixings as all mk 4 Golfs, so they will probably fit without any problems - not sure of the offset on a mk 3 though so they might not look quite right in the arches if it is different to the mk 4 (ET38/42).
With regards to fitting 18" rims, don't know if they will go straight on a Mk3 but in any case you would normally fit a lower profile tyre to maintain virtually the same rolling radius as your existing 15 or 16" wheels so there won't be any significant change in performance / speedo accuracy etc.

If you want an exact match to your original rolling radius i would speak to Elite in Rainham essex, these guys know there stuff and will tell you what tyres you need to keep the exact same rolling radius with 18's,
I believe you should have no problems with speedo and performance with 18's as R32's have 18's standard so should be ok,
Only when you go to 19's will you start to see a drop in performance as the rolling radius will go beyond your current set-up, the extra weight of the wheels will make a slight but i stress slight difference to the handling,
I remember in the old days when i banged a set of 17's on my old Punto GT Turbo, that made a big difference in pull away, but on the upside also gave me tonnes more traction. but 18's look the tits on Golf mk4's so go for it
