I know his isn't too helpful but;

i think fitting a turbo to an 8v is possible but it would cost a lot.

I think for the cost you could sell the 8v buy a vr6 and insure it!

On a more constructive note i did see a company website that offered a turbo for a 16v.  Unfortunately i can't remember the name.  I think it was in holland and you had to go there to get it done.  Cost was about 4000 or 5000 euros but they did do all the remapping and other stuff to make it work properly.

pointless

insruance on a turboed 2.0 would be silly when a 2.8 litre 12 v would be better BHP and toque and a lot cheapr.

engine swap with vr6 you are talking 3?

turbo ?? 2 - 3 ? to buy ? 1-2 re head gasket and compression on your engine, then fitting"?"

Pointless?, I would not say that, have a bit of imagination ;).
I turbo'd my 8v (mk1) for about the price of a service at the main stealer.
Have to know what you're doing and do it yourself.
Or as had been said, buy a faster car,
Steve.
