The car hasn't actually been built yet (estimated build date mid-March) but what will VW say if I tell them I want to cancel the order?
-
How come you want to cancel if u dont mind me asking??

I've been really looking forward to it but all my bills are going up, rent has gone up, no one at my company is getting a payrise or bonus this April so buying a new car would make living uncomfortable right now. Bit gutted actually, but it's only a car. Just hope VW don't f*** me over by making it hard to cancel.

Deposit?

just cancel it and get a second hand one,

Only put down £200 for placing the order. I can live with losing that.

talk to the dealer! and read the small print....

What he said !

bag a bargain 2nd hander . 1 year old one will save you at least 4-5 grand.
-
exactly, buy a used E30.

They should refund it, they might not like it, but its like anything you have a right to cancel.
But if you fell bad about cancelling, make them the offer that they can keep your deposit until the GTI is sold then you will expect it back.
Up to this point its not cost them as a dealer anything.
What spec is it

Where? Every dealer I've seen has had one year old ones only 1 or 2k less than a discounted new one. People pay that rather than wait 3 months for a new one. Heck, the dealer bought my A4 (2 years old) from me for 3.5k less than I paid for it, as part of a trade in. VAG cars don't depreciate that fast, thankfully.

Yeah I'll keep an eye on websites like that and see if I can see something that grabs my attention. Quite happy to wait for the Mk6 GTI though and there's very strong rumours it's going to be out a lot sooner than we think. If it grabs my attention in the same way the Scirocco has then I'm going to be quite chuffed!
