hi, heres the story- i was offered an mkII gti. the engine doesnt start ( it has stayed on one spot for 2 months, before that it started). so my question is- can this problem be as easy as an oxidized connection?

Could be all sorts really. You handy with spanners?

could be dead battery. my project car started fine with a new battery after being left for two years. It didnt jump start off the old battery.
Its now a different story as it starts but wont run

ok tnx for the anwers.
the reason i asked about the oxidized connections is that the owner called me and said that this was the problem yesterday the car started.
i have my reasons to doubt that and the car is in a city thats far away from where i live

how far , you intending to drive it back ?
take a new battery some jump leads and soem kit an a tow rope you should be ok from there on in

yes was planning to drive it home, because i dont have a car atm. i sold it and now found this gti. the reason im interested in it, is that its cheap and i have already seen it once - everything seemed ok except it didnt start.
