Title: RCD300 and Ipod problem
Post by: ccaasjf on 04 March 2008, 17:34
Hiya

Have an 2008 factory fitted ipod dock in armset. This has been working fine till today where the RCD300 refuses to see the tracks/playlist reporting 'NO CD'.

The ipod has not been out of its cradle before this problem started, I have of course re seated it and checked playlist and track still exist.

Anyone else seen this problem? Have I accidentally switched the anything off?

Will try another ipod tomorrow.

Thanks in advance
Simon

Yes, I've had this problem too. Part of my reason for going aftermarket. The IPOD sometimes froze on mine and then I got the "NO CD" message. I had to take out the IPOD, press the menu and centre spot of the IPOD at the same time and keep my fingers pressed on them until the IPOD reset and I got the Apple logo. This then freed up the "NO CD" message when it was reseated and I was okay for a while (until it happened again....which it did....frequently )

My problem goes one stage further - it now refuses to play with the Ipod, and shows "No CDC" whenever I select the ipod connection. Does the same with other Ipods, once I get time I'll have to book it back into the dealers.

I'd be tempted by a 3rd party solution, but I really like the armrest setup. Has anyone managed to match a 3rd-party headunit with the factory ipod wiring?

This may be too obvious but it might save a trip to the dealer. I found that when the ignition is on and you plug the ipod in it gives me the same message and i need to reset the ipod. However if you plug it in while the ignition is off then all is well.

Sorry if what i've said is a little obvious and no help at all :embarassed:.

I'm interested in an after market option as well. Something like the Harmon dive and play. Does anyone know if the drive ans play 2 is out yet?

I stumbed across this http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-ex10-p-6452.html?cadid=3ff97c6726706c8a257de41b3794afc1 (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-ex10-p-6452.html?cadid=3ff97c6726706c8a257de41b3794afc1) has anyone fitted or seen one fitted?

Dont wanna sound stupid... But the manual does clearly state...

1. Make sure the ignition is either off or the car is running when plugging or unplugging the Ipod.
2. When unplugging the Ipod. Make sure the CD Player is off.

Only had problems once or twice and after shoving the manual in my moms face never had a problem again.

mine used to randomly do it when it felt like it, fingers crossed for the new cable coming out that link the ipod to the RNS 510 and displays tracks names and everything!
