Hi - just been dicking around with my window motor/mech.
Bought a new mech from ebay, and went to fit it just now. I didn't realise that it didn't have a motor so I swapped it over just now.
Pretty sure I did it correctly so fitted it to the car. When I tried to wind it down, I heard the motor winding down, but there was no motion. When clicking the down button, it wound down constantly and didn't stop. When clicking up up, it only wound when I pressed it.
I'm getting seriously pissed off with this, and was just wondering if someone can tell me if the motor is working 100% and what I need to do for it to work properly.
Cheers.

Check all the connections, as when you swapped over the winder mech you may have dislodged one or put em back wrong.
-
Connections as in Electrical ones?
Or the connection between the mech and the motor?
I was thinking that the motor is turning, but the coupling between the two isn't meeting?
-
Because I can here the motor running, do you think it works 100%?
Im getting so hacked off with this that Im probably going to buy a second hand one that works. Ive already bought 2 previous ones so I don't want to get it woring again.
Cheers folks.

From your first description it sounded to me that the window was going up and down but not performing how it should so my first thought was a wiring fault!
But if its not moving at all then check the winder is engaging.
-
Yeah - sorry about that.
I can hear the motor turning (i presume its the motor) but there is no motion.
So you think that the motor is working ok, but that the motor is not engaging to the mechanism.
How would I go about checking? Just taking it to bits again?
-
your mechanism may be working fine.
the window might be stuck at the top.
3 or 5 door mate?
-
3 door.
The mechanism is brand new. (I know that doesn't mean it definatly works tho, but im confident its good).
The mech is at the bottom too. Both the lifter things were down. I lowered the glass through the window hole into these.

Anyone know the best way of making sure the motor engauges with the mechanism?
