I'm looking at fitting a bluetooth CD player to my G60, and do away with the nessecity for a Parrot or other external box. Ideally, I would like a Kenwwod, but the only things I can find in this range is 'Bluetooth ready'. What does that mean? I am also going to run a sub, powered by a Magnum bridgeable amp, so I need something compatible with this.
What other makes would anyone reccomend? I am not ICE literate so plain English is what I understand.

I have a Pioneer DEH P65BT - works reaally well, easy to install and sounds great. even the phone is crystal clear.
Plus the illumination can be changed to suit the existing interior colour (as I have a MK4 I use blue and red, and it matches the dashboard spot on).
Got it here:

Thanks for the replies. These units are not as expensive as I thought they would be. I already have a Panasonic, but it very much lacks in the base department. This is the reason I was looking at Kenwood as they usually have a base button, but they only say bluetooth ready. Does this mean that bluetooth is installed or that it is ready to have a device added to it?
I know I could ask these questions in the shop, but living in Spain with limited Spanish, not too sure how far I would get!

From checking the link off a page like http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/products/car/cd_receivers/KDC-W4041G/ it would indeed appear to be an add-on.

I found out yesterday what it was, and yes, its a little black box about the size of a cigarete packet that you have to buy as an extra and plug in. Cost about 100 euros (in Germany)on top of the cost of the unit.
I ended up buying an AEG unit. They do mainly household appliances and are reasonable quality. Hope thats the same for car hifi.
It has Bluetooth incorporated, 4x40watts RMS and a woofer output. It also has a remote control that straps onto the steering wheel, but I don't think this will ever get used.
Thanks for the replies.

I think when Kenwood says bluetooth ready it means their units are ready to accept the additional box for the phone kit.
Does any one know if the bluetooth head units mute an amp as well when a call comes in?
-
Hmm, im not sure, but I would take an educated guess at yes. Surely the HU mutes the music / radio / dvd so there is no out put going to the speakers, so if an amp is in between the speakers the headunit i guess it would be muted too???
-
Sorry this is gonna be a stupid question but these bluetooth headsets allow phonecalls to be filtered through the speakers but is the mic on the head unit or is it seperate?? And whats the quality like on a headunit like this

Thanks

the mic on that pioneer is most certainly separate. and the quality is brilliant..just the same as having any separate bluetooth unit fitted in like a parrot kit for example.
as for the earlier post...i believe that anything that is amped is not bypassed by the muting capability as it runs through a seperate output. however, it depends on the radio that u have. As i have fitted bluetooth parrot kits in sum cars with factory head units connected to on board amps and it only muted out the direct speakers but not those connected to amps. however, being an aftermarket radio...it may stil mute anything from the amps, i gues theres only one way to find out n try it i gues! also, being a built in bluetooth unit and not a separate unit, theres more chance of it being able to mute out the pre-outs sound output aswel. its only wen it comes to separate bluetooth kits where it may b different otherwise!
