Saw an 08 Ed30 in black on the M40 yesterday.

....Strange coincidence! My VW dealer had a red 08 GTI on Friday. I really do hope your real name doesn't begin with "E"!!
-
No mate this was an ED 30 very nice indeed.
-

....It still feels like that two and a half years later!! I must be truly in love!
-
sorry to go offtopic slightly but i have always wondered what are they going to do when it gets to 2010?
coz at the moment we have 08 for cars registered before august then 58 for ones registered after (or there abouts) but when it becomes 2010 it will be for example PN10EAT but what will they do when its registered in the latter part of the year?
-
It moves to 60, 61, 62 etc...

....Welcome to the forum, grahamm
The usual reason for delay is that the boat only leaves Hamburg twice a week and the completed car might not leave Wolsburg on a matching date or the next boat gets too full.
You'll appreciate her all the more when she does arrive. Meanwhile I hope you've got a GTI brochure to put under your pillow
-
Collecting mine today!! :)
-
Nice 1 fellas, theres nothin like the feelin of a brand new motor
Whilst I partly agree, there's nothing like the feeling of wiping a few thousand points of it's value the second you drive it :)

....That never even crosses my mind! I buy something to enjoy it. And with a car like the GTI the fact that it's built with the options you want is important.

Ignore me, I'm just bitter that the one new car I did buy depreciated a LOT more then a new car should :)
-
Yup, got mine on the 1st.

Welcome to the forum Ziggy
Pics please
-
My Ed 30 arrives tomorrow morning! Ordered it on 21 November, so that's a 114 day wait! Not that I've been counting or anything ...
-
apart from trawling previous posts of members to find pics of their beauties it would be nice if there was an option to view your individual gallery...this was a feature with the mini2.com site. I am sure it would be a welcome addition ...unless of course i am completely showing my ignorance and its something which can easily be viewed right now? d'oh!
-
Gutted! It wasn't ready today... If nothing goes wrong between now and 12:00 tomorrow, then I will at least have it for the weekend!
-
Can anyone give me a quick run down on what I need to do re: registering my new gti import. I got it from Motorhouse in Cannock and have a UK handbook but it has no stamps in it. Also how do I know what service schedule it's on? Apologies for the stupid questions! Cheers Ziggy
-
Picked her up today at last! Damn I didn't realise these things were that quick!!
Here she is outside the stealers... 9 miles on the clock!

looks great!!!, what spec has it got?
-
Lovely car Grahamm looks just like mine, also you will notice the gti gets quicker the more miles go on it.
-
i noticed my new one, has only 1000 miles on it and is very sluggish compared to my old blue one which had 20 k on it. it will take 4 to 5k before engine and DSG gearbox bed in.
-
looking good, pick mine up monday

what you getting ?
-
Thanks for the comments guys!
They had this one on order already, so I didn't have much choice as to the specs. But she came with pretty much everything I wanted. At least I only had a 4 week wait!
18" Monza II Alloys
Climate Control
Leather Sports Seats
iPod Preparation
Winter Pack
DSG

Agree Phil my gti had 8 miles on the clock when i bought it and i did'nt find it that quick but after 6k started to loosen up,now with 11.5k and a ecu upgrade done at dealers under warranty the car feels alot smoother and quicker.
-
Grahamm
Welcome to the club - she looks  and I'm sure you will enjoy every minute behind the wheel, especially with DSG
Just out of interest is that Smith Knight Fay Bolton?
-
Thanks Kermit, I know I am going to enjoy this one! Every time I take off my mind goes, "Traction control? What traction control????" - she seems to wheel-spin at every opportunity! And I am not even trying... honest...
To answer your question, that is actually Leicester Volkswagen...
-
Grahamm that's looks stunning in that photo, one of the best photo's i've seen.
Make's the wait for mine even harder.

That's probably because you are running on the sh*tty dunlops
-
My new 08 Ed30 came with Michelin's
-
Yeah, mine came with Michellins too...
-
Bang goes that theory then
-
Mine (Ed30) came with Continentals
Is it just a case that they take the next tyres off a pile or something?
-
Graham - take it out of sport mode
Brother has dunlops on his GTI - says they are kack and squeel like a pig. Didn't know VW were using contis - mine came with Michellins - had a few spins/squeaks when pulling out hastily  Had Pirelli PZeros on my TT, now they were good tyres if a little bit expensive per corner.
