Basically the rims on my wheels are very slightly pitted and generally quite dull... I have spent hours polishing them with everything under the sun and they come up ok, but within a day they are crappy again and just washing them wont do it. If I was to get them refurbished would they turn them on a lathe and then laquer them? Am getting bored of polishing now!! The pic is after a polish... and a rub down with p2000...and a scouring pad...and jacking up the car and putting it in gear and starting, and more polishing...grrrr (http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh272/benrevs/P2290113.jpg)

Scouring pad??? Its bare metal - so it needs bare metal protection, wax, laquer etc. 2000 Grit is very smooth, I'm suprised you got rid of any pitting in the wheel, I'd start with a 400 grit, and work up to 1500. Then you'll find (eventually) you'll get a mirror finish with imperfections, use a mild abrasive metal polish compound (usually 2000 grit equiv.). Then go over the metal with a protective wax - it will usually need cleaning and re-applying 4 weekly to stay in tip top condition.

Well the scourer was to get all the dirt out that sticks to it (being not very shiney an all). And i was using the god-like polish that is autosol. 400 just isnt enough to get the pits out... the finish i get isnt too bad it just lasts about a day, or 2 puddles!lol Will get them done properly i reckon as the centres need powdercoating anyways. Cheers though
