hey all, tried some back to black the other day and yeah its ok for about a day lol, u know the rain mostly wrecks it. anyways i was just wondering if u can recommend any quality stuff that might actually last a while, i know back to black is a bit cheapo.
-
Armourall is the Daddy.
Repeated application just makes it better and better. Rain can knacker it though.
-
i use kiwi shoe polish. works best for me :D
-
haha
a mate of mine told me to stay away from back to black.
i've got some 'black trim wax' to try out when i get a full run at the car...
-
I have used some of the silicone type spray on my roof - I soaked a sponge in the spray then wiped it across the roof. It has brought it up a treat, and the rain just forms into little droplets like that on newly waxed bonnet. Seems to have done the trick really well.
-
armourall.
It makes ya tyre walls look good too! 8)
-
I use schimoz. The back to black, tire shire are the best ive used. Dad moans at me because the tire shine melts the tarmac on the road when it drips of the tires ;D Some good Sh!t
-
car plan, my local asdas was selling turtle wax at ?2 a bottle and carplan wipes at 39p a whack.
have a nice day

-

that works well on my tyres :)
also if you brush on halfords car wash with a little water and leave it on overnight on the black bits. It stays black for weeks
-
Yeah, Autoglym Bumper care. Works a treat, BUT, Need lots of it so a bottle doesn't last long and costs a fortune.
-
Another vote for Amourall from me :)
-
In a 'Mike Reid runaround' stylee I'm gonna go and stand with the Autoglym people!
-
has to be Autoglym.
-
Frasier, I've been meaning to ask you, is that a massive bash on your rear wheel there, or is the picture playing tricks on me??
-

-
dont laugh till you have tried it but babyoil poured onto a cloth and wiped on the surface works a treat the gloss lasts for ages and no dust doesnt stick to it otherwise armourall is very good as well
-
*Edit* - WOOT! I OWN PAGE 3 :D
Back to blacks a bit pants, Im a huge fan of turtle wax my self.
-
ill let you in on an old car valeting trick, you know that ?2.99 for 5 ltrs oil??? well get one of them , will last you years and brings bumpers and faded plastic trim etc straight up to spec, dont put too much on!! just get some on a rag and work into bumper etc youll see it darken and shine up straight away, gets em lookin well pukka, dosnt smell the best in the world, and dont drive down a sandy lane after youve done it casue it will pick alot of dust up if youve put on too thickly if not youll be fine!!!,
hey and before you take the p1ss, try it!!! lol

I did mine yesterday with black trim wax and looks pukka.
Will just have to wait and see how long it lasts now.
-
cool, keeo us posted on how that works out.
-
i did mine yesterday with black trim wax too!! :o
-
Another vote for Black trim wax I'm afraid ....
If your plastic is quite new I'm sure the others are gr8, but this really worked for me!
Plus I found it lurking in the garage, so didn't cost a penny ;D
-
It`s gotta be AutoGlym, makes tatty mk.1 look pretty damn good.
-
You should try out the Meguiars - Gold Class Trim Detailer
Check out this link: http://www.meguiars.co.uk/ (http://www.meguiars.co.uk/)
-
right ive tried everything thats been said but the best stuff is top-shine got a bottle of the stuff when i got the car back from the respray shop and ive used it once which was a few weeks ago and this stuff is blindin does leather and vinyl aswell
-
What the hell is Top-Shine ?
Where did you get it from ?
Im gonna try some of Lidle's black liquid shoe polish, I tried the spray back to black - not good - got it on the windows... dont bother with that crap.
-
back to black is nasty stuff allmost as bad as the shiny cockpit spray silcone based products leave a cheap sheen.
B pillars and black trim behind rear number plate on my cab were well faded, tried back to black sprays came back week later. tar remove the plastic to remove the grime and staining through the years then apply a wax or one of the finishes suggested. B pillars dont need any more prep and i did them 3 month ago still black.
-
Meh, Im just colour coading my bumpers instead, Much less hassle ;D
