Love it, if that rocks the ED30 lump then I'm robbing a bank to get one.
Nick
-
I quite like it...i beleive they are gonna be using a 2.0TSI lump and a 3.2 aswell....it looks very similiar to the Volvo little hatch/coupe
-
Love those 19" Alloys. Wonder what colour options will be available?
-
wish they wouldn't call them 'photos'.. they're CGI, the real thing probably doesn't look anything as sleek
-
Is it me or does it look bit like an Alfa from behind?
-
yeah, and a vauxhall from the front
-
I like GTI better.
-
Looks like a Volvo C30 to me.
-
No one knows yet except the factory what engine will be in it but it wont be these
i beleive they are gonna be using a 2.0TSI lump and a 3.2 aswell
2.0 TSI, is there something you know that i might not.

The speculators were backing an uprated version of the 1.4TSI lump and maybe even a 1.6TSI :undecided:
-
Never going to happen.
The 1.6 will be deleted from all vw engines, IMO, its old technology.
Also The idea of the 1.4 TSI engines is to give the best of both worlds.
Fuel enconemy around town and the power when needed, supercharger.
The will be no point in VW putting in a 2.0 Tsi engine, if anything they will give the following options.
1.4 tsi 140
1.4 tsi 170
2.0 tdi 140
2.0 tdi 170
2.0 fsi 200 bhp ( the one in the gti).
and possibly the new upgrade old 3.2 ( r32) engine to the new 3.6 ( r36) petrol engine.
But its all specultion cause until a few weeks before launch no one can be possitive.
-
They have ruined the front compared to the IROC concept car, other than that they have done quite well.
-
Ive just realised it looks a touch like like the new impretza hatch .

What a missed opportunity, its lost the sleek, techno feel. Defo agree about the Imprezza looks.
I was going to wait until this came out before I ordered my ED30, glad I didn’t!
Rock on ED30 in Candy White... here in 10 days.

Looks to much like a Golf, Thought it was going to be a coupe
-
Again this happens alot.
Its an artists impression, it might look like that it might not.
The way that alot of cars look these days have more to do with euro n cap safety.
Smaller rear windows, lower fronts etc.
Thats why so many cars look like one another.
-
This is the VW teaser site for the Scirocco .Anyone know any German
2.0TSI ..... http://www.volkswagen.de/vwcms_publish/vwcms/master_public/virtualmaster/en2/centralhosting/carlines/scirocco/teaser/de_DE.html?csref=home-teaser-rechts-scirocco_teaserSI ..........
-
It a register your interest site.
And yes there does seem to be a 2.0 Tsi Engine.
Which would lead me to believe that VW intend to replace the currant 2.0 Fsi engine( all though its not been that for a while), with a new 2.0 TSi.
Now where did i put that Humble pie,
-
Looks too much like a Golf, Thought it was going to be a coupe
....Exactly what I was going to say. Especially the rear. Looks like a Golf Coupe. Sat in an Eos this morning - Black hard top with maroon leather, quite smart but I don't like open top cars.
-
Not sure............... I prefered the concept car.
It looks a little like the Ba*stard child of the 3dr Astra and the latest Renault Clio
Not enough Coupe "look" to it. The 3/4 rear is too Golf like.
-
Open tops are for old and Retiring people with flat caps and slippers................... opps sorry Red Robin, forgot your near the age group!!.
But you are the exception to the rule!. cheers for the P.M by the way .opted for newer one now.
-
Just what we need. A Golf with a fat arse.
-
Of all the artist impressions or what ever they are called I have no seen one of them that I like!
its is not a scirocco! When is the release date, 2009?
-
Its due this year 2008, but knowing what i know, or what i think i know, which are not always the same.
The will open ordering from about Oct/Nov,
Just in time for the March reg 2009.
Iroc is the name

I cant see the differance Myself, but i am Biased.
-
....The biggest difference is the front and especially grill.

So much better on the IROC
-
so its not actually going to be called the Scirocco then? The VW Iroc instead
-
As a concept car it was called Iroc Concept
But not sure what its actually going to be called.
-
IROC = International Race of Champions = Camaro, surely ?
-
Nothing better looking from VW than a MkV GTI E30. And a 4-door coupe VW is releasing.
THe front of Scirocco is bland and unimaginative, mix of Peaugeot (however you spell it, damn French language) and new Imprezza. But maybe in metal it will look better. I will check it out in Geneve in about a week. Though, the primary objects I want to check out are Audi TTS  and Nissan GT-R.
Crazy, how expensive TT is! It is based on a MkV golf but the premium for TT is mind-numbing!

....Typically Audi I'm afraid!
We look forward to a full report on Geneva
-
But not sure what its actually going to be called.
....What's the Italian word for "Disappointing"?
-
disappointing = deludente

Ho avuto subito una grande delusione.

-
scIROCco hence the name.

^^^^^ what he said
-
Love it! Brown seats FTW.
Nick
-
This is not VW front. Is this Lancer, or Peugeot, or some kind of chinese design?
-
Its the spitting image of a Peugeot 207
-
I must say,i saw the pics first in yesterday's Sunday Mirror and wasn't too keen.I had high hopes of a 21st century Corrado, one of my all time fave cars. The more i look at the pics though,it's definately a grower! Let's face it,each generation of Golf gets a lukewarm reception to start with,it usually takes a little while to familiarise yourself with the design.
Particularly love the interior and seats, especially in the nod to the 70's original brown colour! Lets face it,by the time it's in the showrooms you'll all want one!
-
I must admit i do like the interior and especially the fact it has proper rear seats rather than tt style impossible to use ones. I also think it will look better in another colour as im not sure the white suits it, white tends to look better broken up a bit like on the mk5 gti. Also im not feeling the wheels they just aint sporty.

I like it, I think it looks a bit like the new Land Rover concept car.
-
I like GTI better.
It's too early to say, but in terms of looks, the new Scirocco slashes all over the GTI/R32 from every conceivable angle as it's designed to be sporty from the ground up. I think it looks stunning, although they haven't given the price for the high-end TSI 200 PS model, nor the price of those 19's!
Would I consider cancelling my GTI order and waiting? Maybe, maybe not.

Evo mag are quoting £20,500 for the 200ps tsi model.
-
basic price i guess with no extra's at £20500.

hardly.
interior is the same as in GTI, bar the sits. I prefer GTI checkered sits because they are in better harmony with the cabin.
