I have one fo those "space saver" jobbies as my spare wheel on my mk3, but I was wondering why the "hole" that it fits into is much larger than the actual wheel itself. Were all mk3's fitted with space savers or would it be possible to fit a standard wheel into the boot?
-
you can fit a standard 14" wheel in there, when the mk3 was made it was the manfacturers new thing to fit these dangerous and stupid wheels in they boot.
they change on they mk 4 to a standard size wheel but made it a steel wheel witch is annoying still.

Im going to take mine out, and if i get a puncture call my dad of the AA. I would rather that than use the stupidly small peice of rubbish.
-
remember it's a 1 size fits all.... my gti has a 15" space saver and it fits nicely!
-
i just carry a can of instant tyre fix as i refuse to use a standard jack on my car....
-
what about if you've changed your wheels from 15's to 16's or 17's, whats the largest steelie that will fit into the back?

I think 15 would be largest...mine fits fairly snug!

I agree with that, I'll never forget the day I jacked my 1st mk3 with the factory jack.....jack went up, car didn't...that'll be a fooked sill then
