Title: My 92' VR6, does it have an ISV?
Post by: SteveoVR6 on 28 February 2008, 21:37
basically my tickover is a bit lumpy and was wondering if my VR6 has an ISV, if so where is it located. ive also read about replacing 3 of the hoses with silicon hoses, can someone tell me exactly where each hose is as ive already got the new silicon hose.

1 more thing, if i take the throttle body off to clean it do i need to do anything like reset the ECU when i put it back on or is there any kind of sequence to do with turning the ignition on?

im fairly confidant with working on cars just not used to the VR6 (Owned it for about 5 days now)

Any help greatly aprechiated

Right then, after all of your helpful replies i decided to take my throttle body off and clean it myself and here is what i found.

So i cleaned it out and got it all pretty much spotless:

in the oil breather on the engine side i found what i can only describe as a bundle of scrambled wires?? i took a few photo's:

i took it out as it doesnt look like its the proper part to be in there if any? anybody got any ideas?? do i need to get another wire thing? will oil pour through the breather back into my intake and into the throttle body again without it there? could actually really do with some help this time please.  :nerd:

Well never seen that before...but if it wasn't meant to be there, why would it be..?

Tell you what id do, just remove it and see what happens, if you seem to get alot more oil gunking up your throttle body then you can put it back.

Oh and in answer to your origianl quetsion i think it does have an isv, but where i don't know.

Try asking on www.vr6oc.com , they seem very helpful.

ive never seen anything like it before either but my thinking was someone may have shoved something in there to prevent oil etc splatting into the intake and clogginng up the throttle body?? but it certainly didnt look like a VW part which is why i took it out but i can see why someone would put something in there if it will stop the throttle body getting all oiled up. Ive posted up on VR6OC so well see if they come up with anything
