Title: Brakes Problem, help needed urgently!
Post by: SimonGTI8v on 28 February 2008, 17:57
Hi all, I own a Mk2 Golf GTi 8v and need advice with the brakes.

In a nutshell the problem is that a rear caliper started leaking, the pedal hit the floor and the brakes were almost non-existant. The caliper has been changed with a new one and the system bled but the pedal still goes to the floor.

Does anyone have any ideas on this???

Cheers Si

Either haven't been bled properly or the the new caliper hasn't been connected to the hose properly, is the fluid level topped up at all times during the blleding? have a look round at all the calipers for signs of leaking and then bleed all 4 again.

Cheers mate, the caliper is connected properly and the fluid was kept topped up. There's no leaking that I can see and all the rubber brake pipes look fine (no bulging). Bled the brakes in the order the Haynes manual gives. They've been bled a few times now but still the same result.
