looks
ruins the front grill if you ask me and even makes it look like a cheap chavy affect
-
Yeah front one is a bit too 'pink' but if you look at the other pics there is a nice example of a black rear 'VW' badge, looks good (maybe a bit too dark black on black), fancy having a crack at yours maxamus, complete the pair!?
-
you can buy the front and back already sprayed. im waiting for a price of him, if i send him the parts.
-
I've just ordered the front one - £25. Saves me painting myself! How would you remove the rear badge as its part of the tailgate release?
-
My local VW dealer said he will do the rear badge for me for £30.
Hes going touse matt affect spray paint just like the front. He said there is no difference between spray paint and tin paint but spray paint is easier to apply and easier to layer up.
Now i just need to find some time when i can drop car off for a few hours...........

Thats a bit too dark. Just looks like a black circular hole on the boot and you cant see the "VW". Im gonner go for a dark grey (just like my front badge) so that the "VW" is more noticable.
-
I like the front VW logo in black, but the rear looks pants. The red GTI logo looks tacky IMO and why swap chrome for paint when under the bonnet it goes the other way around?

I think the red GTI badges look naff!
-
That rear CF badge looks lovely RR. How easy is it to remove and replace the rear badge?
-
I think the rear is too much. I would probably go for the HELLA dark red tail tights and keep the chrome effent on the rear.
Red GTI badges  Carbon badges

i think they look very nice, with my color car it gose well.. it isnt pink looking its the same colour code as the red strip in the grille..
im ordering a rear one aswell.. i did have a 25th anni version but it wouldnt match

....The whole rear badge with integrated lock mechanism has to be replaced. The TTshop are still trying to get European distribution for the CF version. It's a case of buying the whole new unit and sending in your old stock one so they can manufacture another CF version for the next buyer.

These are the letters I have on my grill, minus the rabbit of course. Official VW part for the US market rabbit. I got mine from ebay.de
Just removed the silver GTI and stuck the red on. A perfect fit.

Now they look a hundred times better than the painted ones. The Chrome detailing around the edges finishes them off nicely.

Got a picture of the badge on your car mate? Interested to see how it looks, not so keen on the painted red version that laserblue has (no offence!)
By the way the fella who sells these emailed me back about the black rear badge, £135, this includes the boot release assy, as its all one part so he tells me. £85 from a dealer in the first place. Also he will do lighter shades of black as I mentioned the one in the picture looked a bit too dark for my liking.
-
This the same badge, if so might do the job for £7!

the badge i have is an original gti badge just sprayed red.
other red gti badges on ebay are fakes, they will discolour after time and weather.
the original 25th anniversary badge that was mounted on the front grille cost £39.99 from my local dealer, the rear is £19.99.
you can stick this onto the stock gti badge holder but will need soem strong weather proof glue.
tried all these options and failed after time so purchased the red gti badge off ebay, quality painted and fits straight on as its a whole peice.

 Bit pricey! Can see why you went down the painted version route! Think I'll just leave mine silver, not sure a black gti with black VW badge and red GTI badge will look any good! Would still like to see a piccie of your grill if you get a moment L555BAT

i personaly like the debadged look on a black gti, the chrome/red badge dont look that good from far away unliek mine which is all red and is more blatent complimenting the red strip more
-
....Nice selection of pics, LaserBlue
Personally I'm very proud of driving a VeeDub and one which is a GTI, so I would never ever de-badge mine. I prefer the red GTI badge version with the chrome surround but think it looks a bit fussy. Each to their own.

i think ive seen you b4 on golfmkv
ive gotta say... ur red gti is H0T!! and you plate is badass!
-
Thanks for that last picture laserblue! Just the combo I was wanting to see. I do quite like that red GTI badge with silver surround, v. pleased with how the VW badge in black looks on a black GTI! And yes I have an edition 30, but like robin, I'm not into de-badging! I like my GTI badges and my Edition 30 badge! I'm not to keen on the CF front grill, I like the standard black shiny plastic, think it looks spot on!

It's mostly why I spent dosh on a private plate rather than have to live with gobblygook!
