She was cat's whisker away from crashing my beloved 8v on Friday. And you know why? Because this **** French**** saxo cut right in front of me.
I was just about 50 yards to a roundabout slowing down from 70mph in the outside lane of a dual carriage road. She indicated just as I was about to go past her and instantly cut in front. Had to slam on the brakes veering car towards barriers as her car
was just inches away from crashing into the passenger side of my car and into the barriers. I hooted, flashed and made hand gestures. >:( She didn?t even show any remorse and that really pissed me off. >:( I was shocked and was steaming with anger >:(. I couldn?t help but tailgate slowly as we came off the roundabout onto another dual carriage road, both cars in the outside lane.
Btw it?s a Y Reg. thingy with a big exhaust. Anyway she realised I was pissed off and tailgating so she put her foot down as if to say ?come and get me if you can you old banger? I got into 4 gear, hit 4000rpm and was right behind her bumper she tried stepping up speed but I was still behind and she decided to make way and got into the inside lane. Still fuming with rage I stuck my fingers up at her as I went by.
Got home really upset. I may be speeding but was doing it safely. I came close to being involved in an accident because of this stupid saxo driver. What would have been your reaction under the circumstances?
Beware of these french cars, they think they are top dogs.

actually yes.
about a month ago i was out on a test drive in my old polo with the people who eventually bought it. i wasnt driving.. the dad of the fam was.
coming down a dual carriageway back towards town theres a slip road onto the dual carriageway that comes from our local adsa. we were in the right hand lane. this girl in a black saxo came flying out of this slip road, and crossed straight over into our path... nutter... we couldn't believe it!
quite a lot of early 20s ish girls around here have VTRs and drive em like nutters.
had a girl in some focus giving me hassle yesterday on the same stretch... out ran her though :D

What a *&$*.
When stuff like that happens i try really hard to stay calm and just back off and let them get on with driving like an idiot. You know they will crash sooner or later. It's just the poor innocent person who's pride and joy the write off that you feel sorry for.
But it's so hard to stay calm sometimes. And when some fool in a crap car like that does it all you feel like doing is screaming past them with your fingers stuck to the window.
More annoying than these people are people (often old) who do stupid things and have no idea they have just cut you up or done something totally ridiculous. Usually at roundabouts.

i had a similar thing the day i picked my car up where some f**kwit in a 1.6 focus (again..) cut me up coming of a roundabout on the way home.. i'd been driving for 1.5 hrs and was nearly home.. had to nuke the bugga when i got the chance.
i'm normally pretty chilled though..
on a similar note, i do see a lot of women on mobiles still these days, whereas the number of men i see has dropped apart from the odd rep really.

i only get wound up with other drivers if there blocking me in. Like taxis waiting for there passengers just stop in the middle of a road and hoot, that really winds me up. >:(
I rarely use the horn though unless its to let a good looking guy know he's gorgeous, or to say hello to a mate. ::)
If someone cuts me up I see it as a test of my driving skill and I like getting out of trouble - would be a very differnet story if we actually crashed tho :P

yesterday, a bloke in a merc was tailgating me (on the same stretch of road i got pulled by the cops last week). Obvoiusly, to be safe, I drove slightly below the speed limit. ;D
Tailgaters are what I hate the most, worse since I got rear ended by a bird in a corsa last year >:(

Overseer, thats the exact despriction of the car colour and girl maybe in her mid 20's. I just couldn't believe it at the time.

Normally I try and stay cool. But this incident was very serious and I was really angry. I wouldn't have reacted any further if she had signalled to say she was sorry.
She didn't give a toss about what happened and that really got me fuming with anger.

You can always judge when someone is about to do something stupid (i.e. Carve you up on the roundabout, etc) so I will just let the car get as close as I feel it safely can, then jump on the horn. It gives the other driver a huge fright, but rest assured they wont be so blind to other cars in the future, and realise there are other people driving around in their little world!!

The younger drivers seem to do it quite alot. I was cut up on a tight roundabout by a young girl in a fiesta. further up the road, she did it twice more, nearly causing an accident.

I was speeding safely but got provoked and had to tailgate as a result of been violated. Road rage, I put it simply. At one point I thought of ramming her bumper slightly just to wake her senses up......

Where the arm of the law? Its snapping pics of good drivers going 6mph over the limit. Some drunk drivers don't get caught. Not by cameras anyway. ::)

well im alot more observent since ive been a biker, you tend to look out for 'hazards' alot earlier than you would normally, ive calmed down loads as i got into trouble with the law a few years back, i had my mrs and kids in the car, and some n0bhead in a escort cab (with pants tiger stripes) decided he was gonna get right up my bumper, un lucky for him there were traffic lights 100 yrd ahead which decided they were gonna turn to red, hmmm, got me baseball bat from me passenger footwell, got out and put the twots window though, i remeber seeing him and his mrs screaming in the car, i was shouting at him like a right fruit, then realised the lights were on green and had a queue of cars behind so i got in me car and shot off, got some serious earache from the mrs for doing it and some grief law wise but hey, i dont mind admitting i drive like a fruit but if any one dose it near me when i have my kids in the car(which when i do i always drive sensibly) i go mental. Just my piece.

I do agree with you. Could have been a different story if I had my family in the car. Behind bars would have been the subject of my story today. Cos won't sit or stand idle by and watch an idiot put the lives of my family in absolute danger..
I'm always observant when driving and I keep a sensible distance. I don't tailgate cos I'm not comfortable driving in that manner. On this occasion my rights were infringe upon and I reacted the way I did.

tailgating is about the only thing that pisses me off.. i do keep quite well back when driving, mostly for visibility down the road ahead..
2 things.. 1.. slowing down really pisses em off.. 2.. most of us are driving quicker than average cars, so boot it when safe to.
it doesn't wind me up that much, but it does get really annoying if they're behind you with full beam on, that gets me really worked up.

I get that like once a week .. but not as close to crashing ...
Its always sum young blonde bimbo in a Furio/VTR or summet (Never a VTS) ... and they just .... ARGH ... i hate em.
Women cant take corners tho ... so they can never stay with ya ... ya could probably blitz a woman driving a VTR in a mk3 1.4 if the road had corners!
(No offence women on this site... u drive dubs ... so ya good drivers ... we're talking the girls who reply every sentence with "WHA?!?!?!?!" ... in that squeaky b!tching tone)

Don't be so worried,
the saxo would have disintergrated on impact anyway.
she'd have just been left with the steering wheel in her hands sitting on her arse in the middle of the road.

The best way I find to deal with tailgaters is to turn the tables.
Wait till you can see that there's nothing behind the twit behind you and just innocently indicate and pull over to the side of the road.
When they come past just pull right back out and sit right on their arses.
They hate it.

Got a little tip for people when you are getting tailgated, this only works in the day though, but if someone is up your a**e then what I do is turn on my lights then turn them off again quickly, they will not realise it's not your brake lights cos they just see lights coming on and shat themselves and slow down. Works for me anyway. I suppose you could try putting on your fog lights if this happens in the dark but not tried that myself.
By doing this, you dont actually brake so are keeping a constant speed and if they see lights coming on they will naturally put their put on the brake and slow down. :D
But hey, if it doesn't work and you have to whack them over the head with a crooklock or baseball bat cos they've just shunted you, dont blame me ;D

LOL, might have left a little scratch on the golf.
My sister was in a crash last year. She was in a Peugeot 205. A saxo went into the back of her and a van went into the back of the saxo. All at about 30 mph.
The Peugeot had a ding in the boot and my sister got a sore wrist and mild whiplash, the van had a smashed headlight and grill. The driver was fine.
The saxo driver broke both his legs and three ribs and had severe whiplash, plus cuts and bruises.
I went to pick the 205 up, and drove it home, exhaust was a bit rattly but it drove fine. The saxo was a shambles. Both ends crushed in, windscreen and rear window smashed, dash bowed in, a complete mess. I guess the excuse would be crumple zones but to injure the driver like that they must be useless. Also he probably wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

very! I was surprised at the sturdiness of the 205 though. That was my first car. It was written off from this accident because the chassis got slightly bent, and it was worth about ?4.62!

I would have done more than that mate, its always fun to play chicken and pretend to ram their cars, always sh!ts them up, or another fav of mine it throwing 1p's and 2p's at their car as I drive past...... Its the only way to teach some people ;)

i find the horn a very effective tool.
i have often been sitting in traffic, 2 lanes about to go across a junction. i've been in the right hand lane, and then as the lights go green the f in front sticks on their right hand indicator and doesn't move.
my simple reaction is thus: i put my finger on the horn until they get out of my way.
if you are going to do this, make sure the finger is down for good. no point wimping out, make your point thats what i say. it stresses the other driver in such a way that they will never forget to indicate again.
i did the same to a mercedes 190 once in the vavler. he cut me to make sure i didn't get past. the alloy went dink on the kerb. i was well pissed as i wasnt even trying to get past.
on went the horn.
follwed him for quarter of a mile before he finally stopped in front of me and got out. he said something, but i had to reply that i couldnt hear him, cause my finger was on the horn, still.
he took off, like he could out accelerate me. and after 1.2 miles he turned off. and i took my finger off the horn.
so, as i say, dont be afraid to make a point using your car horn.

i have a better technique for tailgaters.
if i have a tailgater on open road, i let him go, no messing, hes in hurry, i'm not, bye bye.
however, if its busy and they are tailgating and you have no where to go, rather than slamming on the brakes, which works a treat. you just decelerating, until you are crawling. everyone is passing you and the tailgater is stuck because they cant get into the fast moving traffic, and if they try you go even slower.
what nice about this is that you are in the correct. if anyone challenges you, simply say that the guyu behind was driving so close that you had to slow down to be safe.
cant get dun for being safe, and as the highway guide says, if in doubt - slow down.
and if your in a vavler, when you decide to floor it, you loose them.
if that fails to dislodge, chuck out your anchors and watch their pants fill.

Im quite bad when it comes to someone cutting me up or tailgaiting or even going too bloody slow... I can't stay calm when someone is just been damn right rude and ignorant.
If they nearly wipe me out... I chase them. (and make hand gestures alot)
If they are going to slow in the fast lane and the slow lane is moving far to fast I will undertake. (and make hand gestures)
If they tailgate me and Im in the way i move over but if they are flashing their lights for me to get out of the way when im actually passing other cars then they are pricks so I slow down hehe just to annoy them that lil bit more then I let them pass and go for the chase lol and start flashing at them.. I wont however do this if theres aload of other cars about.. just on straight stretches of large roads.
