I use 5w-30 (oh bugger or is 40?)
Bollock$ I cant remember now lol :(
Anyhow if you just pop to Halfords and tell them make model blah blah they will tell you but its one of them. You can also use the 10w stuff but I have been led to belive that the 5w fully sync stuff is better.

I seem to remember the books in halfords saying 10 \ 40 or 5 \ 30 will be ok.

Thats it, was getting my 10w and 5w all mudduled up.
I can only assume that you haven't owned her for that long? Buy the oil in industrial size drums (200 litters a time). Will come in handy in the long run :D
-
i get the oil for me surf in 25 ltr drums as the service is evry 3000 miles. no point for the golf as it only does 12k a year.
where the hell do you put a 200 ltr drum of oil?
-
I was actually taking the piss as the 2.0 lump costs more on oil than a bad coke habbit (especially with my yearly milage).
I just get mine from Halfords in 4 litter tubs.

oops. just re-read your post.
still too early in the morn.
As it happens, mine appears to be an exeption from the rule and doesnt seem to burn a bit of oil. certainly hasnt since it was last serivced at xmas. still check it evry week though just to be on the safe side.

mines the same i use 10w 40 and i serviced mine 3000 miles ago and hasnt needed to be topped yet, maybe the 2.0L isnt that much of a oil drinker as we all thought :afro:
-
No, it really is lol
Compared to my parents Bimmer, I dont think they have ever topped up their oil, ever. Only ever been topped up at services etc.
