Title: Remote Central Locking Kit
Post by: LazyLunatic on 27 February 2008, 00:26
Has anyone fitted one of these kits? It is an upgrade from standard CL to RCL.

Not sure how to fit it.

Cheers

Think you can pick up a cheap kit to do this, and i hear its simple, not done itmyself but they ahve instructions :/

Not much help i know, but i hear its dead easy if you already have central locking in place.

I dont get the MK3 system!  It has the central locking system,  so why can you not just add a remote unit to control the vac pump?   rarther than have to ditch the stock system and fit solonoids!?

Ok got the kit and the instructions are crap or i dont understand them.

The kit has 10 wires that need to be soldered:
-2 for power (+ve and -ve)
-lights
-trunk
-6 are for the central lock; it says in the instructions that 2 go to NC, 2 go to NO and 2 go to COM. But what is NO, NC and COM !!!!

Also I dont quite understand how you can connect it to the lights, so they all flash you lock/unlock the car.

Help!?!??

that kit is a simple plug out and plug in new one.

Mine has 10 different colored wires that need to be soldered to the loom on the central locking pump. Oh and none of the colors match! Just need to figure out the wiring diagrams, both in the haynes manual (of central locking) and the instructions; and then match them together 1+1 should equal 2!!!

Where are you in the southwest?   Im down near camborne,  might be quite a way away.   I have never fitted one of them to a golf but have done hundreds of alarms and know my way arround the MK3 loom,  might be able to give you a hand.
