I'm not sure whether you would want to start with a mk4 1.8T, or a R32 or something. But how powerful do you think you could make a Golf? However the catch is it has to "look" unmodified. You can add big wheels, any brakes etc, but it'd have to look pretty much like a normal Golf to the untrained eye :)
-
Anything is possible given enough time or money.
-
Say you were a millionaire :) Thing is it would have to looklike a normal Golf, so you couldn't add bad ass aurodynamics, which is going to hold you back. It still has to drive and corner, brake etc well.
-
then you could build a 1000bhp plus monster. basically a drag car with just the golf body shell remaining. Is there a point to this?
-
i think you would see 500bhp quite easily
-
See it'd have to brake, accelerate, handle brilliantly, not just be quick in a straight line.
I'm just interested to find out how much you could get out of a Golf, given a LOT of money, but keep it looking formal, so you can pull up to some lights next to a Lambo or Porsche, and smoke it, and they'll never have seen it coming :)
-
R32 twin turbo with Nos would probably smoke a fair few finer machines.

See that's what I'm talking about, then add more money on top :)

I love the Z4 drivers quote at the end "I gotta get a supercharger on this, I'm not f**kin havin that." Ha ha ha ha.

I would like to do a 1.8T 20v with GT34 Turbo 770cc+ injectors with fuel pump and reg to match forged oversized pistons, steel rods, solid lifters, oversized valves, bronze guides high profile cam, custom inlet and custom 4 branch manifold, 9ltr FMIC, OMEX ecu managemt. This should be good for 450+bhp hopfully, then if money aint a question I would fit 150bhp wet nos with progresive controller. so it is drivable as a road car with the omex set to a base map, but for fun switch to the race map and turn the nos on. Then glentch me cheeks.................................>
I would love to have a million quid and a 1.8t turbo to play with.
Summat like my mates astra at Blueprint Hinckley who built my calibra engine for me.
This astra 4 door mk2 is running around 450 - 490bhp. they are wanting to get it on the rollers soon to finish the map off and get a final dyno graph ready for PVS2008 at pod.
They are building a big bhp Seat leon 225bhp with the same set up as the astra below. they are aiming for 450bhp+
Over 10 years to build this monster and get it to the stage it is at, that 1000s of hour with over £20k spent on R&D trial and error. It in the total vauxhall mag this month.

mk4 + limitless budget = the Dahlback Racing golf.. plenty of vids on youtube.

Would the engine out of the new audi RS4 fit in the engine bay?? 400+ bhp to start with and V8 power. Bet that would sound nice. :smug:
-
I dont know about other people, but I have found the engine bay in the MK4 as tight as girl on prom night. You got no room to move about and end up with shreded hands after doing any work in there.
I think the point he was getting as rheady is how far can you take the 1.8T engine rather than cheating and sticking in another lump.

When I'm a millionaire I'm going to allocate about £100k to a little project and you can all come to my house to help. The other half will knock up some bacon butties and everything :D

strap a MKIV to a Saturn 5 rocket; should be fairly quick then
or invent warp drive

The bettle with the Jet engine springs to mind.
