Hello
Oil based air filters and induction kits will not cause problems with
your car.
I have run oil based filters on my car and I have had no problems with
them at all.
My son also has a MK4 Golf 1.8T on a 2000 plate
He is running an induction kit that is oil based and he has no problems
either.
The nicest sounding induction kit for your car would be the Carbonio.
That is a CAI and will give better benefits than the 57i as it will take
in colder air from the front of the car and put it straight in to the
air box of your car

yea ive been down to awesome and all there cars are using carbonio's

They say oil based induction kits/filters are absolutely fine.

Also, trust them to recommend the most expensive induction kit!!

I dont trust oil based filters for mk4 golfs, the mafs are sensitive enough let alone if a bit of oil got in.
Carbinos are the nuts but not in this weather, I got a CAI and tbh I loved it but you guys saw the state of my filter after just a week of having it on, CAI's for summer only

So what induction kit would people recommend overall?
I see 3 choices:
Carbonio Intake 1.8T + 2.0i £165
Neuspeed P-Flow Kit MK4 1.8T £135
K&N 57i Induction Kit Mk4 Golf GTI 1.8T 97-00 £76

if there wasn't a problem with the oil based ones then why are they so many people saying they messed their MAF's up.
go for a panel one, and if its non oil then its one less thing to worry about and one less thing that could go wrong

i wouldnt like to mess around with the air filter on mine let alone a turbo engine.

Sounded quality.

Yeah thats the one. Undo the two screws on the airbox and open it then take out the old old and replace with pipercross takes less than 5 mins !! :wink:

easy mate
undo 4 screws on the air box; take out filter, put new filter and refit cover and screws - 5 minute job MAX!!

whats people oppinion on force air induction cones ?

So what difference will the new filter make? I was hoping for the slightly more growly engine noise :)
