Title: changing dials..
Post by: gtiscott on 26 February 2008, 16:42
can you use the white/silver dials from an 8v gti in a 16v without any problems as it only goes upto 140mph  and the 16v goes to 160mph? also can you get the milage changed to match the cars?

thanks
Scott

I had my mileage corrected to match my existing clocks as i put the anniversary dials in my car (silver), cost me 20 quid, too a guy 2 minsd to do but the clocks have to be out of the car to do this on a mk 3

i have also seen 8v clocks in a 16v so my guess is yes, do your standard clocks start at Zero or ten, ??

the silver clocks start at Zero, so i thibk aslong as u get that the same u should be all good regarding calibration

i can say the 8v clocks have 1 connector on the rear, if yours do too then bingo

pic of my dials can be seen here, when i did all the led changes etc, this will give u idea of how the back of them look as some of the pics were taken when they were out of the car

thanx scott

it is pretty involved work doing some of what i did, but i hope some of it can help other people in some way, and i hope it gave u a idea of what the connection is like on the back of the clocks (its the big black one)
