o.k well im curious
i have just bought a v reg T GTI
and on an forum i used to go on for my current car they say i paid to much for her...
however i think i got a bloody good deal.... shes standard black 5 door with the black/red recaro interior
anyway im curious how much did you all pay originally for your mk4 golfs
(i wont let on how much i paid yet lol) (but others i was looking at seem'd higher priced and didnt have this color interior which i prefere lol if recaros at all)
-
I WOULD answer that, but I'm hoping to possibly sell mine soon ;)
-
oh lol
-
Paid £5500 for my 2.0 (I dont think there is any price diffrence at all between the 1.8T and 2.0) over a year ago now on 62K (I think, something like that anyway). Does that make you feel an better? The price will vary greatly depending on the car condition, year of registration and the milage its sitting on.
Stick up your year and milage its on and id tell you what id pay for her.
-
kk well shes a v reg on 102k miles in godd condition with red/black recaro interior and fsh
-
Umm ummmm ummm about 4-3.5k ish, give OR take depending on how good you are at haggling and how much of an ass the seller is.
-
i gave 3 grand for my 18t pretty much spotless on a x 2000 with 98k on the clock still goin strong and it had 19"s on it but wouldnt say that makes any diff to price but got original turbo rims with it to
-
6k for our 03 2.0 with 42k.
When we were looking the price of a same mileage/age 1.8t was about a grand more.

That would be because its the 180bhp version of the 1.8T engine.
-
maybe so.
at the time of looking i honestly didnt know there was a 180hp version. thought they were all 150. i would have put the extra grand if i knew but all that money for i thought was a 150 was a bit silly imo.
not to worry.
-
well i think i did pretty well thn :D
-
come on then, spill the beans.
-
oh o.k if i have to i paid £2500
-
Bargin, if anyone tells you paid "too much" then they are clearly thick and have no idea what they are talking about. What car forum was it if you dont mind me asking?

you had a Fix Or Repair Daily :lipsrsealed:
Good upgrade with the dub then
-
You can laugh all you like Alan but Scrotes have a far better pedagree than Golf's. How many world rally championships have been won in golfs? The escort is a great car, MKI and MKII's are always on my list for that dream garage, Series 1 RS turbo? Cossie? The MKIII's and the last of the Scrotes weren't much cop though.

Cars are all personal taste Nick, for me the old Fords just scream pikey, chav, Essexy boy racer. Thats just me and its probably an incorrect opinion. I just dont see the appeal of older Fords, just look too tatty imo.
-
Alan you are a heathen!
Escort Mk 2 RS1800 for me!

thats exactly what i think too.
granted ford have a Pedigree, but so does audi.
personally i'd rather push a VW than drive a ford, but like alan's said its down to personal taste.

YEEEE HAAA !!!

lol  Quality !

as of the 90s all the fords were shat. Only now are the ford badge redeeming themselves with the STs.

look like a familiar trait anyone?
-
I'm not knocking personal taste and I agree that Audis have heritage too. But the scrote is motoring legend up there with the original mini, the Audi Quattro etc etc. I just felt the need to stick up for them a bit as blue ovals get a bit of pasting on here. To be fair ford haven't really built a decent car since the early 90's so most younger folks have no idea how good they used to be.
I have miused recently that the praie the MKV has had in the press has rekindled joe publics love of the Glf GTi. Up until the MKV the GTi had somewhat fallen out of favour with a succesion of ars that were good, but not as good as they should have been. Ford seem to think the Focus ST will do the same for them but frankly it's a bit to vulgar to really pull it off.
Anyhoo I waffle. Back to MKIV prices!

i quite agree on that one. not to mention relyability.
However no one can argue that the cosworth engine isnt gud n to say the least.

 you would hope so too being a VW forum.
those car's are classics though, it's just a shame that quite often they get ruined by chav's and boy racers
-
To be honest Boy Racers and Chav's wouldn't touch a MKI or MKII escort as its rear wheel drive and they don't know what that means so it scares them. Alsoyou can't buy parts for them in Halfords and they don't come on 20 years interest free credit from a local dealership.
To be completely honest you'll probably find that the number of CHav's in fords and Dubs is probably about the same. You see some aweful Golfs about all the time.
