...and I just can't believe it! Since owning the Mk2 it's like joining some sort of elite club or something  On the roads you are given loads of respect and not just from other VW owners. I've had 9 different cars in my 5 years driving and this is by far the most tight-knit bunch I've ever come across.
Like today for example, I was checking the plugs and coolant levels when I caught a glimpse of another Mk2 passing my house. The bloke driving nodded in appreciation and likewise I nodded back. A few mins later he pulled up outside my house and we got chatting. Told him a few of the little niggles with the car which I was planning on sorting and he was really clued up and helped out loads, top bloke too!
Anyway so far the niggles are:
Coilovers a tad low and seized so are being replaced this week
Oil on plugs! Think this is rocker gasket related.
Scraping noise coming from right side front wheel at very low speed getting worse on lock. Suspect driveshaft or something.
LHD beam pattern on headlights. I'll have to change them as there doesn't seem to be any way of adjusting and it's bloody annoying!
Just thought I'd share my experience so far... anyway here's a little piccy

 Nice motor....I do like it when you get a new car and the to-do list starts to grow mines as long as my leg on the red 8v mk3 ...
-
3 weeks and its not broken yet?!

Your motor looks great. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay? (ignore me if you don't want to say, just wondered as it looks pretty sorted aesthetically).

I paid £2300. It has had a 2.0 ABF engine transplant and G60 brakes all round. When it comes to my cars I get them sorted from the inside out so this one appealed to me as the outside is almost there... mind you once I get them 100% I usually get bored and sell!

Very nice! Love the wheels.
Thought the price was expensive at first but then read on about the conversion. What's it like with the ABF in?

Well coming from a 2002 BMW 330Ci you would think I'd be a bit let down performance-wise. No chance, It absolutely flies!

Where are you based? That's a sweet mk2 :)

I'm in Rushden... about 2 miles from Santa Pod :)

If that price included the wheels you look to have stolen it at that price! :)
-
Awesome looking mark 2, got yourself a good deal there I think.
its true what you say about owning a mark 2, other owners nod and flash their lights at you and wave. Something that just doesn't happen with mark 3's.
I miss my mark 2

It came as you see in the pic. Like I say though there are a few niggles but this week so far I have bought:
Smoked crystal headlamps (RHD!)
New wiring loom for lights
6000k Bi-xenon HIDs (Missed them loads)
New coilovers and G60 top mounts
Rocker cover gasket
That should keep me busy for Saturday :)

Its a permanant nod and flash fest round these parts I tell thee! Yep came with the Recaros... nicely retrimmed too :)
Got the new coilovers fitted today and not a moment too soon, The top mounts were knackered but now it handles perfectly. Glad I bought those G60 top mounts :) Next up is wheel bearing and fitting the HIDs. Pics to follow...
