So my local fuzz in Bournemouth have just got themselves a marked 5 door Ford Focus ST as one their cars, no worries then should I need to get away  (just kidding of course!)
Especially as I soon will have the funds for a remap of my steel greey ed30 beast (with Monzas of course!)
I'm sure I've seen an unmarked ed30 as a motorway car before, anyone else seen any interesting police cars?

M5 nottingham motorway police!!

Theres an umarked Silver ST that cruises around Stratford / Warwick area.
I left him standing in my old 3.2 A3 on a bypass. Car in front reduced us to 5mph as it was turning off so I thought I'd have some fun with the ST I'd seen being driven a bit lairy but was now behind me. Floored it from 5mph to a nudge over the legal limit then slowed for my turn off. He came and had a quiet word when I'd stopped in the car park I was going to but no more than that.
-
....I think you'll find that the boys in blue who drive the unmarked cars can wipe the floor with you anytime they want - Their driver training will far exceed your skills if push comes to shove. The same goes for many of the marked car drivers as well.
-
Please don't be under the misconception that I claiming to have raced the chap for many miles cross country. I was simply pointing out that the 3.2 out accelerated his ST with ease along a bypass. Not much skill required by either of us when travelling in a straight line.
I'm not in the habit of trying to outrun police cars.

I see Wiltshire Police's (and i make note all the time) as I drive past the Devizes and Melksham headquaters alot so you see them leaving at different times of the day to go issue some tickets!
They have:
Unmarked BMW 330d in silver (07 plate)
Unmarked BMW 330i one black and one in Grey colour.(Think both are 56 plates)
Unmarked 2008 BMW X5 in silver (57 Plate)
Unmarked BMW X5 3.0d in silver (this one has four aerials on top)
Unmarked Mondeo ST V6 one in dark blue and one silver (both 55 plates)
Unmarked Honda Accord estate 2.2 CDTI in Purple (lots of these)
I find it very easy to tell they are police. You can see the lights in the BMW grills so easily. They also they have a small square box that sits under the rear veiw mirror and a box that sits on the dash board thats quite visible from outside. That seems to be some sort of number plate reader. Wiltshire cars also tend to have one or two aerials sticking up from top (dead give away) and they tend to have a stop sign on the back parcel shelf which is quite noticable.
Wiltshire police are boring, they should get a fleet of R32!s

The police certainly have some skillful drivers (maybe not so when it comes to standard "bobby on the beat" guys from my experience) but the same skills can be enjoyed by normal folk by undertaking the Advanced Driver training. Unfortunately you wont learn about pursuit driving as its not something we need to do everyday . When I was doing the training for this the handbook used was the Police Drivers Handbook (now they have a specific Advanced Driver manual that has evolved over the years) and you are taught by different people each week (or whoevers an observer in the group) and sometimes you will get a police driver (ex or serving) - not wishing to preach but anyone that takes pride in their driving and the skill you exhibit in doing so should look at training for this (just by being observed by people with this training and skill is very useful). I started my training a few weeks after passing my L-Test and the amount of things you are not doing after the L-Test is scary (plus the bad habits I had picked up with my limited experience), I'm surprised I managed to safely get around and not cause havoc
Anyway - back the thread, we seem to have black Octavia vRS patrolling the M6 in Cheshire which I suspect would be pretty useful but difficult to pick out at night

Down here in Gibraltar we have One marked Honda Civic Saloon...and about four ford focus saloons in silver, blue and red....all the ford focus's have been scratched to bits and vandalised.... If only gib wasnt so small.....

Still the best Police car, even if it was just for promo work

Even thou its a police car it still looks amazing!
-
Police will never get Golf GTi's for unmarked cars because the boots are too small to carry all the equipment that they are required to carry. Hense why they plump for the Skoda octavia VRS which has a larger boot. A friend of mine works in the local Nick.

Hi telboy,
I’m in Bournemouth also, I’ll keep em peeled for the ST.
ED30 arrives in fortnight... can’t wait.
By the way do you know of any good valeters around here?
Cheers buddt... Hotrod

South Africa gets 330i Bmw's, Opel Astra OPC's and Golf Gti's...
Not sure why they need them though....

Says it all really.... coppers with no class!!
-
ye. One of the VXR's pulled me once when i booted past him on an A road but he eventally let me off for doing 74mph on a 50mph dual c/way.
The other ST drivers just stare as if i've pinched the car or some it. Crazy Whores!
I always rev high (but stay within speed limit) when they are at the lights with me. P1sses them off

Hotrod, sorry to say that most are no good if you want a half decent clean and polish, used to think that the Autoglym place at Tesco's Tower park was quite good until they scratched my alloys :angry:luckily most of the marks have polished out :wink:To be honest unless you have the time to do it ourself there are few and far between and some can cost a small fortune, especially as I do 20k miles per annum  If you ever find a good one, let me know, I don't mind paying for quality as long as they respect what they are cleaning!!! All the best with the 2 weeks, it will be hard but well worth it I guarantee

I've never seen a single police car on any stretch of the Cheshire M6, even though I'm sure they are about :)
-
I've seen a Black Octavia VRS on the M6 Toll.
On the M6 around Cheshire you need to watch out for the dark coloured Volvo S60's theres loads of them.
Used to be an Impreza Turbo in Manchester city centre as well, not sure if its still about though.
-
BobBarley you must be driving with your eyes shut or pressing the GTI a bit too much  Going South (think after J25) there is a little hidden parking space for the rozzers and they hide behind what I can only describe as a mound - you don't know they are there until you have just shot past - luckily they are reading top shelf mags and eating donuts most of the time  No worries in the morning as it's chocker anyway
-
I've seen a marked BMW X5 on the M6 in Cheshire. Sh!tted me up a bit when I saw its blue lights behind me once!

There's one of these in York now

It doesn't matter what the fuzz have for transport...they still catch you. I had to laugh today - as I was driving north on the M1 a Police Range Rover had just pulled over an orange Lamborghini Gallardo heading South.
I wonder what speed he was doing
-
Spotted a Black unmarked Volvo S60 on the M6 Toll Southbound. He'd pulled a very nice looking gunmetal grey Maserati 4200, bet that was going some on the empty toll road.

....Assuming: Good safe car, good road conditions with very light traffic, responsible and focussed driver - It's just not fair is it!! Why can't the UK learn from the way that they do it in Germany!!? I hope the police just gave him a warning and let him off.

Totally agree! I know most of you may not agree with this but if I am paying on a toll road I should be allowed to go as fast as I like! Its like selling a fat person a chocolate bar and then telling them they can only have half :embarassed:
-
Remember, speed kills. You might be lucky but the other person might not. If you're fat and stuffing yourself with chocolate, you'll only kill yourself.

*In best Homer Simpson voice*
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Chocolate

yeah that was probably a bad example to use. but there would be alot less chance of a collision if people were not looking over their shoulders for the police.
