Post by: bubba..dubba on 25 February 2008, 16:28
looking at selling this mk3, im not sure what its worth so maybe you guys could help me?
its a 1.4 5 door, it has 130,00 on the clock but runs sweet as.
been serviced 3 months ago and had the cambelt done, also had a new tire, new battery and a new thermostat housing and new thermostat.
its got mot till october 08 and tax till the end of march.
paint work is ok ish has the odd scrape and the rear boot lid has a patch of rust around the glass.
still has its parcel shelf which is un-cut.
its clean in side the car no rips in the seats and everything works as it should, also has a wind up sunroof.

Probably about £500 I would have thought. Have a look on autotrader and ebat at similar cars and see what they are going for.

so what ur saying is, its only worth scrap value?
i was thinkink about getting rid of it, but after the value you guys put on it i think i might keep it.
im gonna throw a bit of cash at it, (£200 tops,im a bit flash dont you know) lower it a little seen some golf gti alloys for it(maybe) on egay.
and some other little bits.
just outta intrest will a dash from a golf with a rev counter fit ok, and will the rev counter wire up easy enough as mine dont have one?

I'd say that's sensible option, run into the ground and get your moneys worth. Unless of course you want a GTI.

as above, sometimes cars are too good to sell for so little if that makes sense to you, worth more to yourself if you keep it, i bet its reliable as hell with years left in it too

I would just keep it, drive it sensibly and it will last you ages, even if its a backup, or you sell it cheap to some1 that needs a first car, its worth more to you than it is in money. £400 max, i could spend that in a day on my car! haha. ANd it wouldnt be on cool stuff. So just keep it i reckon. Unless you need the money.
