Servicing gear selector mechanism
Adjusting gear selector mechanism
Notes:

The following points are essential to ensure correct selector adjustment:

◆ Perfect operation of selector mechanism, operating and relay elements.
◆ Light selector mechanism operation.
Also gearbox, clutch and clutch operating mechanism must be in perfect condition.

● Gearbox in neutral position.
‒ → Loosen clamp (arrow). Selector rod/gate lever connection must move freely.
‒ Pull cover off frame.

‒ → Insert gear stick jig.
‒ Jig must not stick.
‒ Align selector rod/gate lever (gearbox in neutral) and tighten clamp
Note:

Do not stress components.

Tightening torque

Clamp for selector rod
 25 Nm

Functional check

● The gear stick lever must rest in the 3rd/4th gear plane with gearbox in neutral.
‒ Select all gears several times. Pay particular attention to the operation of the reverse gear catch.
Should a gear fail to engage smoothly after repeated selection, then continue as follows:

‒ Engage 1st gear.

‒ Remove play from selector mechanism by carefully pushing gear stick to the left.
● → Distance -a- must then be 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm.
‒ Should this not be the case, carry out fine adjustment with 1st gear selected =>Page 34-22.

Fine adjustment

● 1st gear selected.
‒ → Loosen clamp bolt -B-.
‒ Set to dimension -a- by turning the adjustment eccentric -A-.
‒ Tighten clamp bolt -B-.
‒ Clip gaiter into frame.
