I'm intested in buying either a Golf 1.8T (mk4) or a Golf GT TDi (mk4) but can't find a low millage (50-70k) one for the correct price (about 7k). But for the same amount of money I can get a 2000 (W) Polo 1.6 GTi with low millage, shall be doing a lot of motorway driving about 18k a year, just wondering what the polo is like. I live in Bournemouth so the prices of cars are a little more expensive than up North.

Yeah they're alright, Think you're gonna struggle to find a good un if you're only gonna spend 7k, You'd be better spnding a couple of grand more and go for the Mk4, more solid and means you'll be able to post on here,
If you can go up to 9 you could even get a Lupo Gti, these look fun, but very small,
The polo s not much of a GTi though, will not compete with 206 GTi or any other small hatches.
Diesel would be a good bet for long milages.
