Hi all, im new to this forum(only set my jobby up today) after sifting through old posts on here i feel i have a good indication of whats goin on with my mk3 96 P 8v gti. engine code AGG. when i pull up at junctions/roundabouts etc and the clutch in shifting down the gears the revs drop and sometimes bounce back and save itself, but 9 times outta 10 it jus stalls. Its always starts straight away but really spluttery. i changed obvious parts like spark plugs which had no effect, at first i thought it was just a bit of damp due to the fact it seemed to happen more in the wet, but im not so sure if this is just coincidence??? it sounds like this is a common fault in all golfs??? it needs sorting as it seems to happen every time i drive it which isnt good!! from old posts it sounds like the throttle body needs a good clean?? is this something i can do myself?? or is there another possibility?? also my ABS light and Handbrake light are permanently on, again from past posts sounds like dodgy sensors????? can i also do this myself??
Any suggestions gratefully appreciated.
oggy.

both easy to fix your self...head over to the mk3 section and look at the maintanence section for guides on both

its a pain as the car drives pretty much perfectly bar this, which sounds like quite a common head scratching fault!? ill attempt yo change the faulty ABS sensor(s) which i also have just found a brilliant thread on. jus need to find where the Handbrake sensor is.

Post in the mk3 section for help on these. Handbrake warning light staying on indicates more than one ABS fault. Stalling sounds like fuel pump relay
