Title: Trip computer resetting itself?
Post by: Trefor on 24 February 2008, 15:49
Today, driving along the M40 towards home the trip computer in our 2006 GTi reset itself. The average mpg, time driven, mileage in the computer (not the trip below controlled by the dash button) etc. all reset. I noticed 4 miles after it happened, it may have been a dodgy pothole on the A40/M40 bend which triggered it (i.e. the jolt), otherwise we were cruising at 80ish mph.

Bummer that my long term average mpg reset too ... it was 33.8. Mind you, its now nearer 35 since it was a warm engined cruise to home.

Anyone else had this prob?

its happened to me about 3 or 4 times, noticed after scrolling thru the mpg, mileage, speed etc

although one of the times i may have held down the little button on the bottom of the right hand indicator stalk thingy and reset it myself

it happens - if its like the MKIV you have two trip computers - one for your current journey and one for long term average.  Your long term average resets after 99 hours of driving  :nerd:

thats if its the same as the MKIV mind lol
