So after getting your dream VW are you clocking up more miles driving for the enjoyment or less cause your keeping your baby safe?
I bought my 1st Golf in 1990 and did 50,000 miles in the first year, bought my 1st GTI March last year and I've only done 2700 so far - only take it out for pure driving pleasure, i'm lucky my wife has a Polo so it's used for all the day to day running about keeping my pride and joy away from super market car parks!
So anyone else doing really high or low miles in a year?

got my gti last may with 2600 onthe clock , up to now put on nearly another 3000 miles . work on building site so got a D reg 950cc , 205 for work ... just a little diffrent to the golf..
so spend all week in that and the wife,s got a 206 gti 180. so thats for the shops etc .
seem to spend more time cleaning and polishing than driving but when i do...

I don't work and have the freedom to come and go where and when I please. A friend asked me to give her a lift to Heathrow and she'd pay my fuel there and back....I said give me your airfare and I'll drive you home to Bavaria. I took my daughter along and we ended up in Italy!
I did 5 miles last week but this week it looks like it'll be about 500. Nearly 45,000 miles in 30 months = 18,000 a year. I enjoy my GTI every single time I sit behind the wheel

I'm probably going to put 30k a year on my Ed30.
I can't understand people only doing 3k on a golf?!
If you are doing so few, then why not buy an elise/vx220 or something for fun purposes.

Not reached 8000 yet - in 11 months. Partly due to the missis's car being first on the starting block most of the time :embarassed:

Done 2500 in mine after 4 weeks :embarassed:

Im trying not to drive it as much as my mum has given me her MkV 140 derv as she is unable to drive for a while, but everytime I open my garage and there both sitting there I just can't take my eyes off the ED30, I end up getting in it even though I promised myself beforehand I would take the diesel. Does anyone else suffer with this? :embarassed:

12-15k a year for me - it's a daily driver and gets used for everything!

It's not a Ferrari or a Lambo, the GTI is meant to be driven day to day, so why not get behind the wheel and enjoy it more?

Coming up to a year since I got mine, and covered 9,500miles. My daily driver, couldn't bear to leave it sitting on the drive and go shopping in the other halfs Rav4! I take it out at every possible opportunity! Don't worry about supermarket car parks - just spend some time looking for the perfect 'end' space!
