im thinking of getting some of theese springs for my 1.4,
i know people here rate hot tuning for price, anyone had these before or know if there any good. they seem to be the only spring kit for a 1.4 that lowers 60/40 wich is wot i wanted :smiley:

also how much would i be looking at paying if i went to a garage and had lowering springs fitted??

Hi mate i brought springs for my golf from gsfcarparts.com £60 i think the springs are probably the same i got 35mm drop with 17s and it all fits snug. The only thing is if your going lower than 40 you'll need to change the shocks for the shorter damper rods another site to check for springs and kits is www.volksbits.com there pretty good. Think you'll be looking around the £150 mark for fitted . Hope this helps :smiley:

or u could just get coilovers like most people do, including myself

they lower the car 60/40, does that mean i need new shocks then??

well, you dont have to do anything u dont want and i dont know how old your shocks are, but lowering more than 40mm on standard shocks really does put alot more strain on them so they would wear out alot quicker, and my opinion is u may aswell save a bit of cash and fit the whole lot whislt its all off the car if u get me, you can get 60/40 kits with shocks for a little over 100 quid

ok so if i got springs and shocks for £100 ish, how much would i have to pay to get them fitted???

I would allways replace shockers when lowering...and 60mm at front is quite away down and with old shockers I am guessing the ride with be floaty!

your looking to pay around 100 to 150 for fitting, which is why you are best fitting new shockers aswell coz u dont want to have to be paying out for fitting again later down the line
you will also wanna get top mounts front and rear from somewhere like eurocarparts, will be about 40 quid for all them

ok i was planning on getting some hot tuning coilovers , but i thought id get some springs for now assuming they'd be cheaper to fit,
ive been quoted £100 to fit the coilovers at my friends garage so i mite just wait untill i have money for coilovers, unless anyone here from the essex area can fit some 40/40 springs cheap to my origional shocks

fitting springs should be the same/similar price as fitting a full kit... as all the shockers need removing to do both

The hottuning coilovers are less than £280! they are £199 or best offer i think :S

mike he's looking at £180 for coilies and £100 fitting... but forgotten another £30 for tracking and £35 for top mounts! best say £345 all in

I paid £155 plus £20 postage, finally got round to fitting them yesterday, very pleased with them

Don't forget to get the camber reset! tracking and camber are gonna cost me £65 tomorrow morning...

yes it's wise.... all though since lowering mine 40mm I havent adjusted it and the tryes are wearing even and its not effected the handling.. (allthough this was unintentional as I still have some from suspension work to do!!)
