Title: STEERING
Post by: vrmk3 on 23 February 2008, 21:55
Hi there ive got a mk3 golf vr6 recently noticed a funny noise so i jacked up my car a wobbled the front wheels to find that there was play on the drivers side i believe it could be the steering rack but im not sure if it could just be a tie rod arm? or will the whole rack need changing i checked the passenger side and that feels ok?
Thanks all

If the play was in all directions it's more likely to be wheel bearings

cheers for the replys ive had a look again i think the wheel bearing is a little worn also i checked the track rod end and it seems ok the play looks like its coming from other end by the steering rack i assume theres a nuckle type joint is it possible to just change the arm? If so is it easy ? thanks again
