Title: MOT explanation
Post by: Davo13 on 23 February 2008, 13:25
My car was MOT'd and one of the "Advisory Items" was - Front Brake Discs Showing Run out on brake tester.  Does anyone know what causes this and what would I need to do to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Change the front discs is my first thought - but I await to be corrected .

And I am surprised the garage didnt explain how to fix it as its an advisory

The garage I purchased the car from MOT'd it before I picked it up.

The other advisory was the front tyres, which the garage replaced.  My thought on the brake discs fading is that they will need replacing at some point but not straight away, as I'm sure that the garage would have replaced them, like they did with the tyres, if they needed it.

Thanks

more tha likly you will need new discs and pads. it means that your brakes are quivering but will only be slightly as hes advised it. if it was too bad you would beable to feel the brake pedal jumping abit like abs. or juddering at speeds when braking

the chances are there warped. this could be down to your brakes overheating. so if you fit new discs yourself ensure everything is free and easy
