Title: MK3 2.0 8v GTI 8v strange noise
Post by: golf-gti-matt on 22 February 2008, 17:44: Have had a strange noise on the golf ever since i got it, its from the engine bay area and its like a chuffing, hard to explain. Makes it sound like an air cooled campervan when under load, sounds abit like an exhaust blow. Have had it up on the ramps at work and had someone cover the tailpipes whilst i listen but couldnt find any exhuast leaks. It idles over perfectly smoothly and runs well, so thats gotta rule out an air leak. Any ideas what it could be, or is it just how they sound?

Drilled the Air box this afternoon and put a direct fit pipercross element in there and the induction roar is incredible! just gotta wait for the exhaust system to arrive now :smiley:

I might want to check my flexi pipe, add this to the bill!

The flexi pipe goes from the throttle body to the air filter. Not on the exhaust i think they mean.

that means they sell them for mine still..my wonderfull and rare?? ady engine...... could be worth calling them as mine was an fk make and was bought from them (and there website is poor!!)
