Hi all
Lightening the flywheel on my 16V will have obvious effects to the performance... however if i have the original flywheel lightened is there any chance it will crack under load?!! :huh:
I can get it lightened for £40 but how much would a manufactured one be and who suppies them?

im not sure if this 100% but lightening the flywheel can sometime have adverse effects on the running of the car. as there is lesss weight turnin the crank, in theory you need to have lightened pistons and conrods etc. don't hold me to this but if the flywheel is lightened, im sure other engine parts wil need replacing also.

To be honest, i'm running a fully standard rebuilt 16V... gonna rebuild the gearbox know so was wonderin if it would be worth spending £40 to lighten the flywheel.

correct to a point. The torque won't be as high as it could be, but it will still be at a decent level.
As for needing to change other bits, fooey. The only time that needs doing is when the engine is in extremes of tune.
