going by your recent posts... a buckets the last thing you want!!
-
The only problem is they no longer make these in 5 stud pattern only 4.. So your gona have to keep ceckin all the classifieds for a decent second hand set come up, then you lookin at around 500 for a decent set of 16x9's without tyres
-
I been looking for months 5x100 and cant find them anywhere!!! well pissed off

OMG the black borbet's with red pinstripe !!!! I want them on my mk3 !!!
I can aspire to the red mk3 with the borbet's ... :p
LL
-
you will not find 5x100 anywhere apart from second hand. borbet stopped production of them. discontinued :(
-
i saw a post on the gtiforum, this guy has a set of 3 piece split rim borbet A's, i read something about them being on his mkI, got to be pure rockin'horse sh1t right there..........
i really dont want to compramise, i would only really be interested in porsche design 90's (mirror polished), or maybe azev A's if they were cheap...
what other dirty deep dishes are available, ? not very keen on the ronal turbos:sick: and i dont want BBS splits of ANY KIND (sorry)
-
does anyone know what is the widest wheel size that will fit comfortably on a mk3 (1.4 1996 for what its worth)?
cheers
LL ;)
-
Azev a are a great wheel...really great wheel
D90 are cool, but done a bit too many times
borbet A are what my mate has on his 3, they are pretty good
-
i got 9" wide on mine need to modify arches though for them to fit right

had my arces modified on my swift which wears 18" rims, you cant tell by looking at them but they are widened by around a inch all round, looks good
-
did you have them rolled or flared? ,i want mine flaring -just need to find someone local to do it

had them rolled then flared, rolling woulnd gime me enough clearence as i wanted the rims to sit inside the arches...
the rolling was fine with the smaller rims on but for 18's....well thats a diff ball game
-
I was thinking of getting my plastic arch bits removed and having them flared slightly? I will see what/if wheels i get!
-
word of warning, try and find somewhere that has been recomended for getting your arches done. I had 17's fitted on mine but they stuck out too much (sorry not got a clue of the proper term - offset?). So asked my local vw specialist of to get them done and they did a sh*t job of it.
120 for the rear rolled, and they only just touched the top section of the arch, leaving the setion lower down that actually rubbs even sharper than before. Shoulda known not to trust somewhere that specialises in jap cars!!
Just do a bit of research on the place before hand.
-
there's a place in Huddersfield that have being highly recommended by other's... http://www.wide-wheels.co.uk/ (http://www.wide-wheels.co.uk/) is there site
-
Ill be running some wheels up to them when i get home from afgan as i wanna be running wide steelies.
Gotta source a set of 16's now although im tempted by 15's still
-
yes i was told about them but they are the other side off the country from me and dont want to travel that far with wheels sticking out an 1 and 1/2
-
£90 to roll all 4 arches is good... and i have seen some of there work and it did look class
hmmm 7.5" wide banded steels on mine

it is a good price .i may still go to them
-
i was looking into them. chuffing expensive and so far dubmeister seem to be the only ones that do them unless ya get second hand. i was looking at 17s and they wanted 700 quid without tyres. mmm expensive
-
the godfather of VW modifying did my swift GTI full bodywork, not cheep but by far the best, over 12 performance VW cover cars, 6 fast ford cover cars etc etc list goes on, he has gone a bit quiet at the mo but anyone who is proppe rinto VW's should have heard of Dave from B autos and Bini with his (at the time) upfront mk 2's.
dave pioneered the Audi handle swap in the uk and the flush tailgates when they first started not to mention a whole host of other stuff including some of the first ever VR6 into MK 1 & MK 2 conversions, really knows his thang, as an example he wanted to drop a WRX lump into my humble swift GTI..the guy is mad..
had alot of fun in his shed looking F reg Jetta which was powered by a 240 BHP (ish) VR6 lump hahahah
in a nutshell, only go somewhere who has done it before alot of times or it will look very very sh!te, mine looks a factory finish which is what u want
-
just bought these, yay £190 all in, get in

it was either these or D90's for me. glad i got them, the d90s do look slick, but borbets have got to be the old school classics
