Post by: beni-iow on 21 February 2008, 21:45
ive only had my gti for a just over a week and now ive got my abs sorted i opened her up for the 1st time properly but noticed that when i change gear fast it does not pick up straight away just feels like a flat spot.it also feels like i mite have a engine mount going.could a engine mount cause this or could it need a new fuel filter/ignition leads or plugs?

I have the same, when u change gear it feels like the engine is guna come through the dash.....

And also it dont pick up when u change gear..... I thought my clutch was going, but its not. I dont think that it has short shift gears? Maybe this would help?

i've noticed this with my 1.6 too. mine's due a service though.  :undecided:

clutch dumping seems to sort it, but obviously not a good idea considering how soft Mk3 clutches are

to check if its the front -put it in 1st -h/brake on and let the clutch up .get a 2nd person to see if the front off the engine moves a lot -if it does its the front one .the rear mounts do the same in reverse and do the same and check both sides for it lifting -its mostly the front one and on occasions i've changed the gearbox ones ,but not many

hope this helps

Most likely a front mount. They're notoriously soft and crap as standard anyway. Get a diesel mount put on
