Thought it might be interesting to compile the results into a poll type format :)

Noisy ones are not for me at all tbh.
Pretty chav-tastic.
And if a person hears it that has no interest in cars, or any idea what it is, they will laugh.
So quiet all the way
-
its a Golf not a Subaru
-
Wastegate chatter sounds pretty cool, im all up for that but just not big Whoooshh!!'s

put a decent air filter on,you can hear everything the turbos doin just thru the filter, and not as over the top as an atmospheric dump valve.
use a recirculating 1,then instead ov wasting gases, your keeping the turbo spinning during gear changes=quicker acceleration!so while sum1 else is busy makin noises, your overtaking them!
-
and as topher says................its German not Jap!

yeah my mates got a scooby wrx and anothers got rev 3 mr2 turbo........and they sound awsome!!!
but i think they only suit "loud" styles of cars, golfs hav always been more of an understated style if that makes sense!
-
can you get quiet ones for mk2 8v gti's?
-
only if it has a turbo strapped to it
-
ah right thanks, there is a mk2 golf on youtube with a dump valve and it sounds sheeeeeeeit!
