I need to get a new exhaust for my mk3 16v.
Im not sure what to do, should i replace the cat or just replace with a system from magnex ect
What would be involved i.e. would i have to get the car tuned for this or can it be done easily. Let me know what you have done.
Any advice would be cool

try miltek (i think that is how you spell it) they make good quality exhausts and not over priced either jus a thought hope it helps

Right, no tuning or anything is neccessary.
Make sure you buy a exhaust system made for your car ... dont get Universal fitment ones as that involves welding and wotnot ...
Stick to Magnex, Mongoose, Miltek ... theirs loads of systems on eBay ... all look good quality and you also have nice options for tailpipes.
I got a custom one made just for my car by Powerflow at Top Gear in St.Albans cost me £320 but I told them exactly how loud I want it and everything and I have to admit its worth every single penny.

don't forget Jetex... well made and sound nice but not OTT

miltek. its the future. i've heard it!
the best thing for you to do is listen to other peoples cars, that is the best advice you'll get, i promise. i made a massive mistake by not doing this, and entrusting the company i've bought 3 from (for RS turbo's and a cosworth. see where i'm going?) and i deeply regret handing over a hard earned £326. Mongoose is the name, and quiet is the game. even quieter than a standard exhaust. not good.
mine's a VR, but no doubt you'll want a nice note, and i'd say ring miltek and get it sorted.
hope it'll be helpful
