Title: Is this valve important?

Hi all,

I have a 1991 Digifant 8v GTI and it seems to be missing valve 18 shown on this image. What is it, is it important and what does it do? The vacuum hoses are all there I am just missing the valve?

its the overrun cutoff valve, saves 1mpg when connected, increases throttle response when disconnected!

That explains it. It looks like it was removed when the previous owner has a induction kit fitted.
