Title: New MK4 Owner! :D
Post by: AndyStephens on 18 February 2008, 13:35
Howday!

My name is Andy and I've just signed the papers for a black 5 door 1.4 Golf MK4! Picking her up at 10am tomorrow and I canny wait. 51 plate and only 29k on the clock as well. In amazing condition! I'll try get some pics up tomorrow but might be wednesday hehe.

Not really planning any mods but I do fancy some Audi RS8 or MK5 R32 wheels (or at least replicas im not made of money :D) and perhaps some form of connecting the ipod to the car stereo? I've seen that an official VW connector can be bought but how good is it? Shall I just get a different head-unit?

Thanks

Andy

Nice one mate, and welcome!  I just bought a mk4 1999 Golf on Sunday, 24k on the clock!  How much did you pay?

£4991 which i dont think is that bad really considering the mileage and the year!

Also another question, if I did get some 17-18" wheels would it look tooooo daft if i didnt have it lowered or could I live? Lots of evil speed bumps on my daily drives.

haha I got it from Evans Halshaw and that was just the price they were selling it for. Thought it was quite strange myself too lol. Nevermind I'm not bothered about a quid :P

ill answer tour question mate!! :afro:

if u put 18's lowering it 30mm will be about right 4 lots of spped bumps but u will have to take extra care going over them, my advice would be to put 18's on and leave the suspension alone, people on here will disagree with me anyway

Its all down to personal preference as mat says TBH. Ive got the eibach pro springs and dampers and you can go over speed bumps the same speed as the standard set up!! :afro:

The eibach pro set up will set the ride height the same as the anniversary model - it will also give you superb handling and lose the mk4's nasty body roll.

contradicting what i said earlier, i plan on doing my susoesion but i dont have nasty speed bumps on a daily drive but if i did i wouldnt do anything to suspension, as rich says it's personnel preference

okay, thanks very much guys :) I'll get the wheels first and see how high it looks.

Got the car yesterday (a day late cos of the silly finance company) and I've barely stopped driving it about haha. Such a step up from my sister's old saxo which was bright green i might add haha.
