Can anyone explain to me what these do ??

you block off all your locks with them i dont think thats good tho incase your battery goes flat or your key stops workin your be locked out of your car

Just replace your handles with rear 5 door handles. So they have no lock slot, then you can have 2 points from the battery extended to under the car, so you can jump it without opening the bonnet. Simple and cheap really.

So i'm looking at getting a de-lock kit - where is the cheapest place?

Also, can I just confirm there is still a way into the car if the battery dies.. eg via key through the boot? I don't want to re-wire a battery point.

cheapest could well be your local stealer in all honesty; just make sure the supply the METALDISC otherwise the kit is completely pointless!!

It doesn't just replace the bits with rear 5 door parts, you also get a metal blank for the gap left when you remove the barrel.

As Rhyso said there is a major flaw on the lock system on the Mk4, you'd be suprised how easy it is to break into them when the locks are still fitted.

I can confirm that you can climb through the boot when the battery dies lol

I had to do it a few months ago when my battery gave up, not easy with a rear strut brace though.

I'm not embarrasing myself by getting pictures of my fat ass crawling about to prove it thanks  :grin:
