Okay here we go again!!
Changed the ecu relay, changed the maf (£45 exchange bargain?) car is running 90% better, however i have a definate missfire, if i lift the bonnet and operate the throttle by hand the engine missfires i reckon only on one cylinder, when driving the car at around 3000 rpm in any gear and lift off slightly the car has a slight judder (this would be consistant to the missfire occuring when operating the throttle by hand), should i be changing the plugs and leads at this stage? as this is our first golf i trying to get my head round coil packs and distributer caps etc!! as our car is a 2.0 gti 1999 apk engine what have i got? also is it just me or are the plugs a pain to remove?
Any help will gratefully recieved.

I believe the 2.0 8V engine has one main coil. I would change the spark plugs first (only cost £15 And yes thay are a pain on that engine ) then check the leads and dizzy cap.

The 2.0ltrs have one big coil same as the 4mo's

Thanks for all the help guys, looks like my saturday will be taken up with the plugs but hopefully be worth it. Anyone rough cost of dizzy cap and leads while i'm at it?

Dizzy cap around £15 rotor arm £5 ish leads about £40.
But take my advice and buy a good make of HT leads dizzy cap ect
Because ive had many experiences with cheap ones in the past and thay fall apart!!
Go for genuine vw if thay are not too expensive - get a price you might well be suprised probably only few pounds more but well worth it :afro:
