Title: Engine re-mapping and insurance
Post by: bobbarley on 17 February 2008, 19:03
If I re-map my 1.8T, what kind of difference am I looking at on my insurance?

I'm with Privilege, fully comp, paying a touch over £300 a year.

best check with them mate as it will vary with different insurers so the diffence it may make with us would probably be totally different to what it is with them.

Cheers Martin.  Do HIC have a rough rule of thumb for re-mapped mk4 1.8T's?  e.g. Add 1/3 on or something.

Ta!

again it varies with the different underwriters we use and on the bhp gain. How much extra power are you hoping for?

I've been told I can go from 150bhp to 200bhp.  Is there any kinda rough ballpark figure on likely increase :)  LAm I talking hundreds, or like £50?

for a 50bhp increase, on average, you are looking at roughly a 25% increase in premium (with us)
