Title: How i almost lost my golf and discovered i need some coilovers....
Post by: Mikester on 17 February 2008, 16:17
Going into a turn, maybe to fast, we wont say, steering was all over the shot, back end came out, steered to correct and spun 180, luckily no cars on the road. Sh*at my pants and went home, checked my suspension and my front left shock is absolutly ruined. Good thing there was no other cars on the road at the time, otherwise it would be a pile up!

So yeah, hot tunning coilovers are now imminent, got some1 to fit them for free for me, as im incapable!

If my shock wasnt pooed up as it is, i would be able to control it, its a corner i do everyday :/

But i did poo myself, as i almost came into the kurb, luckily not!

Phewwwww

Double check you didn't hit the kerb, you may need some new wheels to go with the suspension ;)

roads can be tricky at the moment... might not look like it but with bits of road in shady areas they might not go above freezing during the day - always wise not to hammer it through the bends during cold weather

also - if you smacked the kerb at speed causing kerbing then you might have knackered your sidewall or weakened it...

good job no one was hurt... lucky escape me thinks

yeah, it was int he middle of fields so you can see no1 is comin for miles, but either way i was more worried about hittin a tree! Just annoying when i go around it 10 times a day. :/ o well, learnt a lesson there.

Plus i polished it today, so wasnt keen on gettin it dirty by smackin a tree at 50+ lol!

sounds like that wheel is trying to tell you something!! maybe it agrees with your neighbours and believe the k&n is tooooo loud

oh and we have all (possibly all?) spun a few times in our early years and have changed our driving style rather than changing our trousers everytime we go too fast! and over cook it...

i had a mk1 escort (it also had 135bhp which was far too much for an 18 year old with rear drive and about 1 ton in weight) and i spun that 8 times in a row..it was house tree house tree house tree..more than crapping myself with that!!
