Well I reckon that's a real shame, GTI has a long history and the Interlagos cloth was one of the many things that made the new model the "original updated"
Perfect excuse to keep mine forever though!

Beware:
The VW Website has a few bugs. Im not sure. But apparently this may not be a true rumour.....
But dont take my word for it. I expect to be proven wrong.
And welcome to the forum

Yeah the new VW site is buggy as hell so it may not be true. If it is I hate leather so they had best bring it back by the time I buy a new one.

I'm not sure if the cloth in the ordinary GTI is the same as the Ed30, but I just love the cloth in the Edition 30 - with the half leather it looks luxurious, but with non of the drawbacks of leather (always too hot/too cold!).
I would definitely spec the cloth next time given the chance. I hope they don't remove this option in the future.

Interlagos has diffenatly faised out, option for leather is Vienna as standard and Nappa Leather is the cost option.

Interesting comment in the pistonheads R32 vs Ed30 thread....
scottiedog said:The leather initially looks great, but after 27k is looking a little tired, If I could turn back time I would opt for the tartan.
Not gonna say I told you so..

Had the Vienna leather in my last GTi, and the quality really isn't that great, in fact a lot of it isn't leather. The car had only done 7k when I got it and there were signs of wear then!, sold the car at 20k ish and even though I'd used lots of care products things didn't look to great
