could anyone tell me the difference between asr and esp traction control is it truee that import models have asr and uk imports have esp which is best ....still deciding wether to go for a vw dealer car or uk import

Are you talking about Mk IV or Mk V ? If you're talking about the Golf Mk V GTi, then as far as I know they all come with ESP regardless of import or not. Both my imports had/has ESP.

Sorry, only just read this, well, let's see:-
ASR is traction control that can help avoid wheelspin in slippery conditions.
ESP (electronic stabilisation programme) is a far more advanced set up and detects critical situations at an early stage by braking individual wheels to keep the car in control. The GTI and the R32 have the most advanced ESP set up which is exclusive to them. :nerd:
AFAIK all GTI's and R32's have the advanced ESP set-up.
