Post by: ro55 on 17 February 2008, 11:25
hi there ive recently got into mk2 golfs and ive brought a 1.6 driver, theres a fault with the carb though,i understand this is common on them.i was  wondering if a carb from a j reg 1.6 will fit and be ok?or would a carb from a 1.8 driver work aswell?thanks in advance

Any 1600 carb should fit and run ok,  if you fit a 1.8L carb it may need a diffrent size jet, you might get away with just tweeking it but i would recomend using one off another 1600.  The carbs off bigger engines are made to have a larger amount of air draw past and reducing the air intake (using a smaller engine) will mess up the fueling.
